Is the Z2 more resistant to water than the old Z? I read some posts with the same problems, that water got in very fast. What are the statistics for this? Does the Z2 leak less often? Did they improve the seals? Or is it just the same as with the Z that you better just not submerge it?

Xperia Z is Ip57
Z2 is ip58

as usual , no chemicals aka pools, saltwater, and anything else that isnt freshwater as noted by sony. you can still submerge it in these conditions, just not as deep as they erode at the seals easier

Using your device in wet and dusty conditions

in dusty environments, for example, on a windy beach.
when your fingers are wet.
in some extreme weather conditions, for example, when it’s snowing or raining.
in fresh (non-saline) water depths of 1.5 metres or less, for example, in a fresh water lake or river.
in a chlorinated swimming pool.

thats from sony care website
