Hello everyone. After a long and pleasant use of CM7 on my P500, I recently needed to repartition my SD and decided to give a try to CM9. And I discovered the (well-known, as I understand) fact that native wifi tethering has a lot of problems. In my case, the native hotspot wasn't working at all.
I read a lot of suggestions about using a third-party app, except that no matter how I tried I could only get ad-hoc networks to work, while I need infrastructure mode, just like the native tethering in CM7 (simply because I need to get another stock Android phone to connect to it). It seems to me that there is no way to get an infrastructure wifi hotspot working on my device with any recent CM, and with any other ICS/JB-based rom that I read about, too.
Hence my question: is CM7 the only recommendable rom that I can rely on for this functionality, or are there any valid alternatives?
