Is the camera freezing in the latest quarx's nightly too?
Took a few sample videos and had short freezes on a few of them. They don't take very long (maybe a second) and happen (at least for me) sporadically on Epsilon's, Quarx (both Defy and Defy+) and also on Maniac's builds.

Also, the battd from Quarx's Defy+ build seems to be the one from the Defy+ and the battery level is displayed wrong.
Quarx, can I use the battery fix (battd and libbattd.so) for red lense Defy (which was posted on the CM9 thread) also for your CM7 Defy+ build?
EDIT: Yes, seems to work. Only battd needs to be replaced since libbattd.so is the same anyway.

Thanks

I believe that this might not be a new problem at all; worst lately, I don't know, maybe... But I remember fighting this problem forever [like back then]and this got me re-install builds and re-flash sbf numerous times... I wish that I could find an olded build where the issue was less frequent, but I have yet to find it...

End the end, this is in fact one of the main reason that will get me to buy a new phone. [I say buy because nothing can repalce the Defy's thoughness on MTB rides :p]. But a working camera [without hickups] is a not a luxury and it's just too bad that it is the Defy's weakest link..

Off-Topic:

Nokia has recently displayed a smartphone (still on symbian) prototype with a 31Mp camera...

The rumoured next Samsung Galaxy S3 [see pics - credits to onrefaitlemac] is also quite attractive display-wise; ceramic back cover; and finally!, they could get rid of that useless fruit-like unique home button... It might very well become my next bank breaker in a few months ...especially if they'd come any close to those screenshots...

Strangely enough, I haven't had recording hiccups on any ROM I've used. (DEFY+ nightlies, WIUI, Pikachu MIUI and now CM9)... o_O

That S3 looks good even to a long time Moto fan boy (me)

DroidSSHd is missing in CM7.2 nightly builds. I am installing it after each update. Anyone knows why?

Some versions don't include droidsshd. eppys and maniacs do, quarx doesn't. (but how do you install it afterwards? its not an app is it? I cant back it up with titanium)

Yes it's an apk [I've attached the one from Epsylon3's last build] and it goes in /system/app directory.

It always surprise me to see people asking for this, but here it is again anyway:

It can easily be done with a root-enabled file explorer, but why suggest/download an extra app, when we can use what's on the phone already?..

You can the file on the root folder of your sd card [/sdcard] and then use Teminal Emulator [in app drawer] to move it and set its permission/ownership like this [enter these 6 lines each one followed by enter]:

Code:
su
cd /sdcard/
mount -o remount,rw /system/
cp -f DroidSSHd.apk /system/app
chmod 644 DroidSSHd.apk
chown 0.0 DroidSSHd.apk

Reboot and done!

If it has that style and the leaked specs (1.5ghz quad core, 4.8inch 1080p res screen, 8mpix rear and 2mpix front cams, 1gb ram etc) it's a must buy for sure! and yes that button makes no sense what so ever...

sorry for the off topic...

There is also a small library : /system/lib/libNativeSSHd.so (used to do some chmod)

on ics its a bit more complicated, dropbear tools are not included in standard cm9 roms... (dropbear dropbearkey sftp-server scp ssh)

I have DSP Manager crashing on me every few calls, taking mobile connectivity down with it till a restart, so I started recording a log and continuously made calls and cut till it crashed. I've attached the logs, can someone help?

And Maniac is right, I have call recording setup by just installing an app from market. Didn't have to replace any libs.

I've also got the problem with crashing dsp manager. If the logcat posted isn't enough I have one also. I am on Quarx 2/26.

To the OP, do you have a nearly full SD card by any chance? Also I don't think it takes down TMobile connectivity, it just kills the audio completely, you can't hear people and they can't hear you, but the connection is there. Mute/unmute, speakerphone on/off, makes no difference, restart is required.

In general I have stability issues since the ics transitions were implemented. I mentioned Firefox before, but I had the Gallery freeze up and reboot the phone the other day without trying Firefox for several days. (sorry, no logcat, my laptop would not boot fast enough before the reboot)

Yep thanks, I forgot about that..

For my mistake, I've repacked the two files here.

So measel: you can just install it in CWM and no more Terminal commands...
Cheers.

[]AL[] and Eppy has provided you the right steps to install it, here are another 2 ways to do it [Not recommended :)]

From Quarks 7.1 stable build zip file:
1. Extract DroidSSHd.apk from /system/app
2. Extract libNativeSSHd.so from /system/lib
3. Add these to the CM 7.2 zip and flash that zip.

You are done.

OR (If you have Android SDK installed on your PC and your mobile is connected) From command line issue the following commands.

Code:
2. cd <directory where you have placed DroidSSHd apk and lib>
3. adb remount
4. adb push DroidSSHd.apk /system/app
5. adb push libNativeSSHd.so /system/lib
6. adb shell
7. cd /system/app
8. chown root:root DroidSSHd.apk
9. chmod 644 DroidSSHd.apk
10. cd /system/lib
11. chown root:root libNativeSSHd.so
12. chmod 644 libNativeSSHd.so
13. exit

And you are done.

Disclaimer: The next lines are by no means meant offensive or as a personal attack. It's just my personal opinion that I feel needs to be expressed.

Yea, indeed. There are so many extra function in CM7 that I don't use it. I hope that the experimental phase will be transferred to ICS project. XDA's CM7 need to be finished by removing as many bugs as it's possible.
I think you should get your expectations correct (refering to 'need to be finished'). Unlike e.g. Motorola, we don't need to deliver a completely finished, totally bug-free 'product'. Unlike e.g. Motorola people, we aren't paid to work on this stuff, we are volunteers working on this stuff for fun in our free times. That includes the fact that we are free to choose what we want to work on, including working on e.g. ICS (if we, or in this particular case, Epsylon3) are interested in that or not working on anything at all for some time and devoting time to the new-born son instead (in this particular case, me at the moment).

You also need to understand that some things are incredibly hard to fix (due to the complexity of the code) or near to impossible to fix (because we're dealing with binary blobs).

Edit: I guess it boils down to one thing: Writing bug reports is nice and welcomed, but they shouldn't be understood as tasks, but as information to us (the developers).

    Talking about your particular examples:

Is this happening with headset only? The report is lacking details.

This is the 'dealing with binaries' case. If you feel like spending countless hours hacking smali disassembly code, go for it. If you feel like spending weeks writing a replacement: Even better.

This is fixed in our nightlies since some time. I invested a number of hours debugging this in the complex video recording code, BTW, without even having personal interest in the video recording feature.

Never encountered that issue so far, how am I supposed to debug this now?

    6. Screen locks after hang up the conversation if the talk was longer than time for screen off.
It should go back to call log according to:
Settings > Call settings > Always back to call log - checked.
I think that's behaving as desired from the code. When you unlock the screen, you should see the call log.

    7. Battery lifetime
    8. Battery lifetime
    9. Battery lifetime
Sorry, but without giving any particular battery drain scenario, ruling out e.g. apps or 3G usage etc., it's a waste of time to even talk about this. I personally got 2.5 to 3 days of battery lifetime from the stock ROM, and I get the same from CM7.
This 'CM7 drains my battery' story really is getting old, especially without any data backing it.

Maybe the devs should start a vote for the most annoying bugs the users want to have fixed? I'd rather like to see a very stable CM7 than another 5 months with a pre-beta CM9. Just my 2 cents.
We don't need a vote, we need people helping with the code, devoting time and fixing bugs. See first paragraph ;)
