Unbrick and enable phone feature

OK... You should look at some other threads too. This is a good thread, but many people have moved on and will not be answering. Read the FAQ in my sig and also the SE ROM page.

The very first thing... have you run "Format" in SP Flash Tool yet? you should backup your NVRAM partition block before you do "Format" otherwise you make much more work for yourself later.

Is it bricked, or can you get into CWM? You said you had CWM installed and you can boot into it?

Syserr,
Thank you for the reply, Chief :)!!! Im glad to know someone replied and help me out. I will also read the thread in your sig but currently i am still lost on what to do.

Here is what i got & to answer your question:
1. I did format in SP Flash using the thread posted (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1982334&page=191) but i can't pass step no.6 since the Chinese ROM link no longer worked. Any suggestion?
2. I have a copy of the folder NVRAM before i started this mess
3. I think it is bricked since it is stuck in lenovo logo whatever you do.
4. I was only able to get in CWN after i followed the thread mentioned in #1. I dont know if this qualifies as the CWN since i can see error below and as mentioned, i cant get pass step#6 of the thread. Please see screenshot.

What i am trying to do is to get it unbrick and enable phone feature. I really appreciate your help and if possible, can you give me a step by step continuing from CWM if it is valid. Also, please recommend a good, stable Rom which has phone feature.

Again, thanks in advance for all your effort and whoever will help.

People like Foxtrot, LeWa, and Chinese for the phone feature. So you should head towards one of those. All are mirrored https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8PcIZoLeGNua2tDbmxjQmRpMG8&usp=sharing

Do you have a dual SIM model of the A2107A-H?

What scatter file did you use? Make sure you did not use one with the FAC partition as an entry. The custom ROMs don't work with that layout.

A backup of the NVRAM folder is not very good, but better than nothing. A backup of the partition is really what is desired, as your /data/nvram folder will be blown away each time you do a Data/Cache wipe. I wish I could go change posts that are 1 year ago. Forums suck in that respect.

You could grab Foxtrot's .zip.. throw it on your card and point CWM at it. Do a Data/Cache Wipe before you reboot.

Before any of this, with your current "semi-brick" state, try a data/cache wipe.

---------- Post added at 10:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 AM ----------

i tried this... but spflash tool not detect my device..:crying:

10% possibility your USB port is damaged. 40% chance you are not going into meta mode. 50% possibility that your "VCOM" driver is not installed (correctly).

First... Have Windows running, without SPFT running. Disconnect device. Slide off back cover. Hit Reset button hole below the camera. Now open Device Manage on Windows. While watching Device Manager..... Press VolUp while plugging in the device. You should see the device manager list change.

Use this driver: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8PcIZoLeGNuUTFIT1J2eXNFd28/edit?usp=sharing

You need to convince Windows to use this driver. You may have to go into device manager, right-click on device and choose "Update Driver" and go select the .INF that I linked.

Thanks Chief!!!, even on 24th of december :)!!! Really happy that you took the time to help me! Merry Christmas & Happy new year!

1. I have dual sim a2107a-h model.
2. Can't remember the scatter file but it is included in the zip file. Sorry i don't understand FAC
3. I followed this http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2044496 upto number 2 to backup

2 - Backup the whole ROM that is on your device - will be useful with making the CWM recovery.img file.

For this you will need ca. 2GB of memory so I advise at least 4GB sdcard.
I also advise to go to the settings and in the memory tab set the "Default write disk" to "SD storage" - this makes the microSD the primary "sdcard" - makes things easier with backups etc.
ALSO in the settings set the screen to stay on for at least 10 minutes - this is how long it will take to do the full ROM dump - important to keep the script alive.
To avoid any issues turn the flight mode on so no new "data" is received by the device.

Once you're done open "2 - Backup" folder from my 7zip and copy the "gscript" folder to the root of your sdcard. Now install "GScriptLite.apk" and run it (needs root access!).
In the app hit the menu button and pick "Add Script" ->"Need SU?" must be checked -> "Load file" -> select "back_mt6575_a4_v2c.sh" -> save and click the script.
As I said - wait ca 10 minutes for the scrip to finish. Now you will have a nice backup in the SD - look for "backup_v2" folder - copy it to your PC.

So, i have only the "backup_v2" folder

4. i will try the to put the A2107A-H_S222_121121_MAK.zip (foxtrot's) on the sd card and boot to CWN and point it to sd with data & cache wipe. Hopes this works ^^

5. i dont know what to do with this instruction below:
---------- Post added at 10:16 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:07 AM ----------

2 questions related Foxtrot 101

Hi all, I've a A2107A-H 16 GB dual sim, and I've updated it to version Foxtrot 101.
Everything good, but I have 2 questions:
1) Currently the system shows the partitions dimension as the picture reported here
http://imageshack.com/a/img194/9775/19zh.png
http://imageshack.com/a/img560/2108/9aqi.png
Are they ok? I'm asking myself "the sum of 2 partitions isn't 16GB, is there something wrong?".
Honestly I don't remember what the tablet showed before the upgrade...

2) Preamble: to update the system I followed the procedure reported here (no UPDATE section)
http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=35369121&postcount=1
Ok, in step 2 I suppose I've done a backup of the original ROM.
So, can I use this to restore the tablet as factory sectings?

Many thanks to everyone will answer me

I wish I could change that post on how to backup. It's better to use SP Flash Tool, but everyone follows the first guy. ;) Do you have an nvram.img somewhere in your backup directory tree? This is most important. I think the GScript backup has what you need, but if I remember right it's not restorable with CWM, you would need to use SPFT.

From what I see, your partitioning looks good to me. Your FAT (sdcard) will be big and is a big part of your 16GB flash. I've found that df was lying to me a few times. You could "cat /proc/dum_char"... that should look similar to a scatter file. You could save it as firmware.info or something like that and have MKDRT read it and how you the layout.

Yes I have this file.
Infact GScript doesn't create a zip file but a structure with folders, files (.img, .tar, .info, ...).
Where can I find the SPFT?

Hi all, I've a A2107A-H 4 GB dual sim I WANT TO USE PHONE AND FM FUNCTION,SO I NEED TO INSTALL A ROM WITH SP FLASH TOOL .WHICH ROM WILL BE THE BEST PLEASE ADVISE

You don't necessarily need SP Flash Tool, but it is a good way to go about it. Options which are probably all over 4 threads..

#1 Flash everything (all partitions) with SPFT
#2 Flash only CWM into the Recovery partition with SPFT, then install whatever CWM-style ROMs
#3 Root Phone then use an Recovery installer like MobileUncle or ADB to flash CWM into Recovery partition

Personally, I think getting SPFT running and getting familiar with it is a good idea. Then if things break, you have an understanding of the "ultimate" tool to fix them.

If you want Phone and FM, I'd use Foxtrot-rerooted (by me) in the ROM link in my sig. CWM images are also on the Google Drive linked to from the ROM thread.

I have a lot of respect for csns but I don't like his comment:
"What you need: this package: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?fbuzi5xjofs7vgf"

^ The reason that is frustrating is right off, you are blindly following with unknown software etc. Yes, SP Flash Tool is what his Update 3 is all about. I'm sure I'm biased, but I like my instructions too: http://xdaforums.com/showpost.php?p=46544293&postcount=3 also post 4 and 5.

SPFT can be found many places, I've mirrored a copy here.https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B8PcIZoLeGNuVDluTXk4QXdQaUU/edit?usp=sharing And the entire directory tree can be browsed here: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B8PcIZoLeGNuWS1JUnA2UXdPYUE&usp=sharing#list

~12GB out of ~14.5GB is your "internal SDCARD"

Saving it as firmware.info, all I was saying there is you can have MKDRT (MediaTek Droid Root and Tools by rua1) read in the output of that dumchar output. The dumchar output needs to be saved as a file on PC called firmware.info. I'm not a heavy user of MKDRT though, I just no it uses it to display some nice parititon block output. No need to do this though as I've shown you that 12GB is the internal sdcard.

Honestly, at the beginning I started following another forum that reports - more or less - the same procedure described by csns, but I found issues trying to "install" the recovery img file.
So I searched for other users that had the same issue and then I found the procedure I used.
Only "now" I have found your posts (very very useful) in this forum

Ok, now - as I wrote some posts ago - I have to study how to use it with the file nvram.img you suggested

Ok, now I know also this info (I'm quite new in android, not in linux :cyclops:). At the beginning I just wanted to know if dimension of partitions are ok (damn that time i didn't take note with the stock rom...)

Restore stock rom

(maybe) ok, I've found the file system.ext4.tar and it contains a structure folder very very similar to the one of Foxtrot101.
Maybe exploding it and generating a zip archive i can try...

    New links for ROMs

ROMs uploaded on Dev-Host server ... No bugs except USB OTG and extra Language support, sorry about that

Please remember to back-up your "/data/nvram" folder from your stock before flashing and replace after flashing these so that you all don't use wrong IMEIs, MAC addresses, Serial number etc. Also do all three wipes before flashing (data, cache and dalvik cache)...And yes, be patient cause the first boot after flashing may take up to 3 minutes...

All files posted here are to be flashed using CWM recovery with "Install zip from sdcard" option !!!

    1. For complete power-off in LeWa modded ROM, you have to un-check "settings--->Accessibility--->Quick Boot"
    2. May have to install the patch (link below) to set internal sdcard as default memory after flashing modded Foxtrot and LeWa ROMs

    Sure, no problem !
After several hours of search and difficulties to register onto Chinese websites ;)
I managed to find the attached file. I take no credit for the tool because it was developped by someone else (SNARL I guess)
It was missing the superuser apk inside so I put it back and also translate the steps to English.

    Here are the steps :
    - Connect the tablet in Debug USB mode
    - Launch root.bat
    - The device will reboot at each of the 3 steps

If you need more info, don't mind to ask!
