I have seen different tutorials for updating galaxy nexus to 4.2.2. It says something like this

"In order to do the update your device needs to be running build JOP40D"
But when i saw my settings in the mobile, my built number appears to be
JRO03C.I9250JPLH2

Now whats the point here .. ?
how to update the device in this situation

It would support JRO03C... in the 2nd screenshot (below the two videos) in the post u can find that it supports JRO03C (it's at no. 5 under the list of device model & build) :good:

so i dont need to unlock bootloader or root phone to update it to 4.2.2 .. right ?
i have to simply follow any tutorial to update mobile to 4.2.2 ..

what if i unlock bootloader, root my device and then update the device to 4.2.2
is there any problem in it ?

coz i want to install custom roms later on device so i want to root it for once and for all

no...no problem

what option should i select to update to 4.2.2 in gnex toolkit after i have unlock bootloader and root the mobile ?

9. Download, Extract + Flash Google Factory Stock Rom

now when i pressed the option 9 to update to 4.2.2

it said "if u have rooted the device , updating the image will effectively unroot it"
so what ?
it will unroot my device . ?
and i will be rooting it again after updating the software ?

that's why I've told you that you don't have to root for updating to stock 4.2.2
