Has anybody had success with Rumrunner for 3.17.502.3 yet? I have been hitting a wall and am not the only one. The phone is freezing on adb at test 2.1. We have tried flashing the RUU and doing it again, but it fails every time in the same way.

Here's what I get:

Code:
!! Do NOT for any reason taunt, unplug, drop, eat or pet your device !!
Please wait....
..........
Checking for updates......
Test 1: Rebooting into bootloader
Waiting for fastboot (7/120)
Waiting
[PN0712000-1.55.0000]
Test 2 (ALT): Booting device
Rebooting from fastboot
Waiting for ADB (22/120)
Test 2.1: Rebooting into bootloader
Waiting for fastboot (7/120)
Waiting
Waiting for ADB (120/120)
ADB connection failed!!
FIX IT, yes, YOU fix it no!!!FIX IT NOW!!!!!
Reboot command failed!!
Bootloader unlock failed?
Press ENTER to exit

Specifically looking for somebody with 3.17.502.3 to chime in if they've tried it, or one of the most awesome devs that work tirelessly so we common folk may find new ways to nearly-brick our phones

Read the thread, it's only 4 pages long!

M.

Hint - it worked for one person on 2.6....

Sent from my HTC One using xda premium

i have read that post and all 5 pages and all the instruction in the site :),
but since i'am with 2.7 even if it is the same base this is a potential dangerous procedure,
so i as seeing if some one have don it with venom 2.7. base 2.24.401 for confirmation.

Backup your current ROM with TWRP, flash a 2.24.401 stock rooted ROM is the best way to make sure you don't have any issues, S-OFF, restore backup.

@acank46.mh I S-OFF'd with ViperOne 2.6.0, so 2.7.0 should be fine.

@balla786 It will work on 1.55.

That's good to hear. However I'm on firmware version 3.22.661.1, there doesn't seem to be a package for that on the rumrunner site. I've sent them an email with my getvar details, and a firmware dump as described in the first post.

Any way I could downgrade my firmware? My phone model is the Telus HTC One:

C:\fastboot>fastboot getvar all
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.55.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.20.3263.16

The link seem to be dead for that stock rom. Any mirrors?

So I was able to downgrade by flashing One_2.24.401.1_deodexed_final.zip (rooted)

Now my firmware version is 2.24.401.1

I ran the rumrunner version for that firmware, getting this error:

!! Do NOT for any reason taunt, unplug, drop, eat or pet your device !!
Please wait....
..........
Checking for updates......

Not sure whey ADB connection fails. I'm able to adb reboot my phone into bootloader via cmd prompt?
Firewall is off, security is off. Tried it a few times, no go.

Testing ADB commands from my PC seems to work fine, rebooting the One

C:\sdk-tools\sdk-tools>adb reboot
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *

Also, I noticed that once the process fails, the phone is stuck in fastboot_usb, can't use the volume +/- to reboot, have to hold the power button until it resets.

Any ideas? Is it my hboot version?

Have you updated your android-sdk recently?

Tried for more than 20 times and no go. It always freezes at test 2.1 for adb.
I am on 3.17.502.3 firmware and htcdev unlocked.
Finally it throws an error saying "bootloader unlock failed?"

I think its the case with adb not working properly. I tried this in three different laptops but still no use. Can someone post their adb and fastboot files which worked for S-OFF

thank you

So I restored my phone back to version 3.22.661.1

I tried Rumrunner version "rumrunner_m7_3.23.666.1", which was the closest, but not exact.
I actually got further than I had before, got past waiting for adb device, but it fails, will not S-Off.
I suspect I'll have to wait for a package for my firmware version.
I've emailed the Rumrunner people my firmware dump.

Test 3: Rebooting into bootloader (again)
Waiting for fastboot (9/120)
Waiting for ADB (29/120)
Waiting for device
pouring (1)..............................
pouring (2)..............................
pouring (3)..............................
pouring (4)..............................
pouring (5)..............................
pouring (6).............................
pouring (7)..............................
pouring (8)..............................
Wait 30 seconds, power on device, run rumrunner again.
Press ENTER to exit

Looks like I will have to wait for a package for my version: 3.22.661.1

Disable antivirus/firewall/Windows Defender etc etc. Retry.

Thanks, that got me past that first hurdle. Now it goes through seven stages of pouring then spits out:
"Please wait 30 seconds, reboot device, run rumrunner again."
Doing that results in the same output.

on a tmo 224113
Should I do the tmo OTA update then try again?

Any ideas?
-edit-
wow, heh, two posts same error... didn't show up when I punched that in thread search

Guys please read the OP to see if your device is supported :D
It will be easier for the OP to offer help if he doesn't have to sift through a bunch of nonsense.

To remove 'Tampered' banner after S-OFF'ing, put this is in terminal emulator

    Code:
    su
    echo -ne '\x00' | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p7 bs=1 seek=4265988

Just copy and paste it into terminal to ensure no errors

Maybe @beaups can put this in the OP to prevent repeat questions?
