Restored my IMEI finally

No, it doesn't. I've tried like 3 or 4 times with different factory images.
NRT is good for rooting, backing up system files and a lot of other things which saved me many times. But, once you wipe factory, NRT won't solve the IMEI problem.
Luckily, I had a nandroid backup from last month (the first ever I made). I followed the steps mentioned in Post#9 of this thread by Gaurav.
I pulled the nv_data.bin and nv_data.md5 files from the radio folder and pushed them to the factory folder using the adb commands mentioned in that post. Then installed a stock ROM using NRT. The IMEI was back and so was the signal
What used to happen after I formatted factory was, when I try to install a stock ROM, it installs fine and when it comes to initial setup page (Selecting the language), signal appears for 2 or 3 seconds and it vanishes after that. After the setup, my phone says it is connected to the vodafone network, but no signal points. After a lot of reading xda, I found this thread.
Thank you all for posting the problem and letting me know I'm not the only one who did this mistake. Now I know the importance of nandroid backups.
