Default [Q] What options do I have traveling to Europe?

I am traveling to London and want to be able to be able to use Google Maps as well as Text/Call friends with London numbers.

Will my ATT Atrix work with another carriers Sim card? Would I need to "unlock it"?

Yes you will. Call AT&T and ask for the unlock code.

I successfully unlocked the phone.

Next question, which European carrier will be the best to work with my ATT Atrix?

there are lots of options here for an unlocked phone. How long are you staying? You can either go payg or on a rolling 30 day sim... either way just do a search and you'll be good to go - all the main carrier sims be picked up for less that a pound in any store here and the packages vary... i if you're looking to use maps you'll need to get one with a half decent data allowance, asda £20 ($30) sim deal http://www.asdamobile.com/sim_pack.html , good coverage with a unlimited text/500minutes/500mb allowance and you can just pick one up in store and it takes a minute to activate it and you can top up whenever you want.

Does it matter which carrier I choose? I am under the assumption that all carriers may not be the same. Am i able to get HSPA+ with any of them?

Because you're in London, it would be safe to assume that whoever you choose you should get a good signal.
All the networks now have HSPA+
