Split 6.1 and 6.5 into different sections?

Would you like to have 6.1 and 6.5 roms split?

I don't really see what's so hard about finding 6.5 roms versus 6.1 roms... if you can't tell the difference and this may sound rude, you shouldn't be flashing roms in the first place lol.

Some people don't have as much time in the day to spend searching through different cooked roms threads.. just be easier to find things thats all

I can understand the logic behind thinking this is a good idea, but as has been pointed out already, as soon as WM6.5 because available virtually all chef's quit working on WM6.1 roms. We typically make changes to the structure in order to help out the forum on a go forward basis rather than for what will quickly become a niche market. There are always a few people who want their old stuff back, but there a reason there has never been a WM 5, WM 6, WM 6.1 specific forum. I think a better suggestion is for user to encourage chefs to follow the naming convention we have already established to make it easier to identify what rom you are looking at. it should be fairly simple to read through the threads if you only ahve to scan for 6.1 vs 6.5.

Why close the thread?

Sorry if I have caused abit of a flame going on here.

Even when 6.5 is actually out do you think everybody is going to prefer it? I am not a specialist in windows mobile platform but the new program listing and lock menu etc can you change them back to the old 6.1 style? If not that is some of the reasons I can think people would still want use 6.1?

Again I am no specialist in windows mobile and if there is a way of turning all those horrible extras off it would be great - maybe this is the wrong place to ask as I should be saying it to the chefs... or even searching the forum for the answers *shy face* ...

Splitting using the Windows Mobile version is not a good idea. I think the name convention is good enough. Please close this thread. There is no point to this unless we are going to create one for WM 2003, 5, 6, 6.1, 6.5. And by the way, we would need this split for all devices on this forum. Good luck to the Administrators and Moderators if they want to take that on.

Im pretty sure that vBulletin supports colored thread titles... so what if we picked two colors that looked nice against the yellow background and one color is meant for all 6.1 roms while the other color is meant for all 6.5 roms and the regular threads will still be black? Thus we wouldnt need a seperate forum but everyone would be able to distinguish 6.1/6.5 rather easlily.

I like this idea... or just simply providing it in the thread title would solve ALL the issues... maybe make it a rule ?

Are you just picking words are random, because if you're actually trying to communicate a point then you're doing a terrible job.

XDA rocks! ( < semi-random words) :p

Oh and this "problem" can easily solved if the chefs followed a name convention to title their threads. For example, I put [6.5] at the beginning of all my 6.5 ROM thread titles :) Seems simple enough to me. If the chefs don't do it, the mods can go in and do it for them :)

How about this?

I saw this posted by a n00b over in the elite RC4 sticky thread, and I thought it might be worth mentioning here as an 'alternative', perhaps. I bolded the stuff I thought was especially pertinent.
Hi everyone,

Having a ROM release thread sticky or not means pretty much nothing to us newbies searching the forum for ROM releases, related information, etc. It spares a few clicks but doesn't change the search feature behaviour.

But I would strongly suggest that each ROM cook take 30 seconds to update the raphael wiki page when a new ROM or version is released. That would definitely help a lot of users and spare them a lot of time.
It used to be the case a while ago but now nobody does it anymore.

Don't get me wrong, I know you guys spend a great deal of time cooking your ROMs, making them robust, clean, etc. and you know we actually are grateful. But I believe those 30 additional seconds would be the cherry on the cake.

My 2 cents.
Would this, perhaps, help the whole "I don't know where the 6.1 ROMs are" issue? A dedicated wiki page for 6.5 Cooked ROMs, as there is for 6.1? Of course, having the page is only half the battle; someone will need to update it when a new ROM is available, and it would make sense that the chefs be the ones to do that.

Does this seem like a viable solution/compromise?

I keep reading how under-utilized the Wiki is; if all of the ROM links were located there, I'm sure people would definitely be visiting the Wiki on a regular basis.

Great ideas and already part of this forum. We only need PPL to follow them.
