Last night I wanted to adjust the picture settings on my Sharp Aquos, so I went looking for the factory remote which had been in some box in a closet since I bought my house a year ago. I adjust the settings and for some reason, when I was done, i continued to use the Aquos remote to start navigating my fire TV. It worked. It took me like 20 seconds before it actually occurred to me what was happening.

So anyways, I guess my aquos, which is an LC-42D64U from like 2007, must be capable of sending commands to the fire TV via HDMI? I was under the impression that there was no ir receiver in the fire TV, hence why people were using USB one to make remotes work.
