i had this problem as well the other day, it would work fine on the stock ICS rom (LG8) but anytime i flashed anything else it would have connection issues and an unknown baseband.

i fixed it by using the attached program and first backing up the EFS folder and then using the restore button on the bottom right (i forget the name but when you click it it says its for fixing an unknown baseband, now the phone has been working fine so far (on JB MIUI)

Thanks for the reply, it worked somewhat because my sim card works more often now. It would work for a bit and then the connection would drop, give it an hour and it reconnects.

Making some progress but not really going far, just do not understand what could have gone wrong...

Thanks for the help though.

Unfortunately for me no change at all. No signal whatsoever! Just finished my 2nd week using my SGS3 as "paperweight"!

Few days ago I returned from Asia back to Czech Republic and decided to drop my mobile into SAMSUNG SERVICE CENTER here. Unfortunately local SAMSUNG SC told me they will not repair my mobile because it has not been purchased from official Czech distribution and they are not interested in repairing phones bought elsewhere. I told them I understand it will not be under warranty and I will pay in full whatever costs may be - they told me even if I would pay in gold they will not touch my mobile as SAMSUNG official policy is not to support phones bought elsewhere at all. So I asked them what if I am a tourist whose mobile got suddenly broken and I need to fix it? They said: Tough luck! Wait until you get back home where they will fix it for you or buy new Samsung phone from us. Nice customer care, isn't it?

Default same issue..kinda

i think its a problem with the modem chip. ive got a SG3 with similar problem. this phone arrivied this morning being water damaged.
i put it in the ultrasonic cleaner, brushed the board, few other tricks and got the phone working, almost perfectly... no imei number and says no sim card inserted.

been reading the forums all night, have tried injecting a new imei to no avail (cant get modem serial port to appear) and basically just bashed my own head in trying to figure it out.

so now im down to it being a shorted modem chip, and going to do triangle reset and see if i cant pass it in for warranty.. (6 months old)

sigh.....
