Default Mhl screen off??

Hi all. I have been looking everywhere for an answer to my question so if it has already been posted please just post the link and dont be rude, thanks.

I have an mhl adaptor to use my nexus on my tv and i love this but i have a problem that i cant believe would not have been resolved already... Can i shut off my screen while using the adaptor. Screen on drains the battery and i dont need it while watching netflix.

Please help!

If you turn off the screen, the screen doesn't show up on the TV or monitor. Either way, you have to have you phone plugged in to use the adapter anyway (At least the Samsung one makes you have it plugged in)

Yeah. "Extended" screens not allowed? Maybe the hardware only allows for duplicating screen.

iPhone 3GS -> G1 -> iPhone 4 -> Galaxy Nexus -> G1 -> Nexus 4

Check your Nexus 4's IMEI. www.wilsonlam.ca/nexus4.html

DONATE TO ME
Every HDMI output I've seen does this. Even on my G2x with a dedicated HDMI port. My Asus Transformer does this too. Kinda sucks on battery. Not only are you running a PSx emulator, running a bluetooth controller, using MHL, but also forced to run with the screen on chomping up the battery.

I guess it is just the way they are wired up.
