I already chatted with a samsung employee and got a repair ticket prepared and ready to go, but I was wondering if they'll be able to find out that I flashed my phone and would then void my warranty if I sent it in.
So I was wondering if I should send it in to Samsung or pay for a JTAG service. Thanks for the help!
im currently working advanced technical support for samsung and i can tell you that, yes they will be able to tell if you rooted it.
this DOES technically put you out of warranty but a software reflash is free of charge even if you are out of warranty.
while the software reflash may not fix the issue as im sure the agent let you know, they will attempt it for you.
if for some reason the reflash doesnt work and additional repairs are needed, they will deem the device out of warranty by condition and contact you with the price for a OOW repair, standard charge $70.36.
also, turn around time for repair is going to be about 2 weeks (2/5-7/2 bussiness days)
there are ways to reset the flash counter (you can find those on here), however im pretty sure they require you to be able to get into the device
hope this helps answer your question! good luck getting it running and have a great day!
