You've got stones for trying that out man. I thought a bad radio flash was one of the sure ways to brick a phone. Do you notice any improvements? I can't dial *228 on CM7 though, did your phone work without dialing it?

Heh, I didn't realize this was ballsy. That was the way it was always described to flash radios on the DINC1. Not sure how doing it my way is any riskier than using ADB. I did check the MD5sum on the sdcard file before flashing the radio.

I just took the leap, and working just fine. I won't be able to tell if there is a difference until I hit regular problem areas. I did the EVRC(sp?) -B trick when I first got the phone too. I had to *228 1 and 2 and reboot before my 3g connected. Worked just the way it does on Dinc1. Good call man.

But the transfer to the SD card can also corrupt the file, hence while my instructions have you the md5sum check while the radio is on the SD card.

I did check the MD5sum on the sd card. I may have misspoke in my instructions. I will edit. I agree with you 100%, must check MD5 on the SD card.

I did it the same way, worked just fine, noticed a 5-10 dbm increase in signal strength

Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA App

Just posting another success so those who are weary will realize how easy and safe it is. I'm running Cyanogenmod 7 nightly number 3 and followed the directions and went off without a hitch.

I am running CM7 nightly 4. I flashed the newest radio before updating to CM7. Do I need to reflash it after CM7?

Nevermind! I answered it my going into the bootloader and checking the radio version. Sorry to be a noob with my question, but I just starting learning all this today. I feel pretty good that I got s-off, perm root, everything backed up, radio updated, CM7 loaded, and everything working within 3 hours of even starting to learn this stuff. I appreciate all the help on this site for sure!

btw, CM7 build 4 seems to fix the network settings issues from CDMA to GSM.

I went from stock radio to 1.09.01.0622 on CM7 with no problems! Signal strength from this paticular spot went from -94dBm to -92dBm. We'll see if it helps in low signal pockets! Woot!

Yeah, after going to the GB firmware, I've noticed the upload speeds are slower than what they were. All of my speed tests have shown this so I think I might roll back.

@gu1dry

Thank you for all of your hard work! I have a request for a lot of us who flashed the leaked 2.18.605.3 RuU. I fully own that I made a mistake, and that I should not have flashed. Many others feel the same way, and we have been looking for the 2.18.605.4 RUU since that is the final candidate for the Verizon Ota. Would you be willing to release this to the forums, for those of us who know that we screwed up? I understand that there are a lot of reasons why you might not, due to NDAs and the like. I feel like many of us, myself included are worried that we may never get the true update, and there for future updates. I also worry that if I have an issue I can't take it in for support.

Whatever you choose, I understand and appreciate. Thank you for all of the hard work that you do for the community!

What does this have to do with radios?

GB Radios on MIUI 1.7.8?

I notice plenty of success stories with CM7, but has anyone tried the GB radios with the new DInc2 MIUI release? I'm in a low signal area that is denying my Inc2 any data connection where my OG Droid rarely dropped a 3G connection - really starting to annoy me.

I'm a noob when it comes to flashing different radios, so I guess I should also ask: is it even advisable to try these radios with MIUI, or should I stick with stock and only use these with CM7? I'm willing to be the guinea pig if no one's tried it as long as I know there's no greater risk of bricking than with CM7. . .

Thanks for any advice.

    Code:
/* I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or the end of the world. Please do some research
     * if you have any concerns about flashing a radio before flashing it!
     * YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if you point the
     * finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you. */

    How to Flash:

In order for this to work, the HTC Incredible 2 needs to be S-OFF. Flashing the radio with a corrupt file or interrupting the flash, can brick the device, please proceed with caution.

    1. Download the your choice of radio for the HTC Incredible 2.
    2. Make sure the filename is PG32IMG.zip exactly or it will not work and copy it to the same folder as adb (the /platform-tools folder within the Android SDK folder).
    3. Connect the HTC Incredible 2 to the computer via USB.
    4. On the computer, open terminal and run the following commands:
      Code:
      adb push PG32IMG.zip /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
      adb shell md5sum /sdcard/PG32IMG.zip
NOTE: The md5 should match up the provide the original download location. If not, redownload & try again.
      Code:
      adb reboot bootloader
    5. The HTC Incredible 2 will reboot & usually boot into fastboot. Pressing the Power button will put the device into the bootloader.
    6. The bootloader will scan for the radio update. Once it finds the update, select Yes.
    7. Allow the bootloader to finish flashing the updated radio, and reboot the HTC Incredible 2 normally.

All Verizon Wireless customers are discouraged from flashing anything OTHER than 'x.x.01.xxxx' radios, for stability reasons.

    Alright,
I pulled the radio.img and the android-info.txt out of the firmware update and zipped only those files back up to create our flashable PG32IMG.ZIP for you radio junkies. :silly:

I have already updated to this firmware so I have not tried this radio zip.

    Rename to PG32IMG.zip
Put in SD root and flash in bootloader.
    FLASH AT YOUR OWN RISK

Let me know how it works. :fingers-crossed:

Had to go find one of my posts on RootzWiki to remember the full radio version number haha. The RUU version can be found in the txt file in the zip.

From the 5.10.605.9 OTA: Radio Version 1.09.01.1111 (US Verizon)

Sent from my brain using human to phone transport technology.

    Champion mate, cheers.

Also, both radios confirmed working on GSM unlocked DInc2.

MD5 sums created, and OP updated to reflect changes.
