As someone else answered, no. There is no benefit to downgrading hboot IF you can s-off that device.

And yes, given the choice, you should always s-off an htc phone.

I have no touchscreen on AOSP-based ROMs (on hboot 2.14). I don't think having s-off would've fixed my problem.

Yes it would, because you could downgrade the tp firmware.

We have the same touch panel problem on the Jewel (htc evo 4g lte).

Default Bricked?

Okay so I ran the tool on an S-Off HBOOT 1.14 Evita and after the QDL command was issued, the phone rebooted from recovery and displayed the white HTC splash screen, and remains there, forever.

Holding Power+Vol Down brings the phone back to bootloader with funtional fastboot, howvever recovery or anything else cannot be accessed. I tried flashing TWRD 2.4.4.0 again through fastboot but no luck. I can't get past that HTC splash screen. Any ideas guys?

EDIT: I've attached the log file.

Thanks a lot bro, that's exactly what I read and followed. But it sort of brought me into a bigger mess cuz I totally lost my CID and IMEI setting by following it, even my bootloader failed to display my CID and IMEI. Especially the CID field, it wasn't even there at all.

In the end, I managed to recover my phone back somehow, using a simpler self-discovered method. And I still got downgraded my HBOOT and S-OFFed.
