Wifi signal range

My phone can't detect the wifi hotspot if i'm not very near my laptop(hotspot) , is there a way to increase the range of wifi detection ?

if the hotspot is a laptop, than the power of the wifi is not strong enough. Thus, the range is only a few meters from the hotspot. Is not your device problem. If you want the range to be wider, considering buying a wifi router.

But the other laptop can detect the Hotspot at further distances
