Rooting won't make any difference when it come to compatibility
You can always downgrade firmware. Check the rooting and tutorial threads as they contain pretty much all the answers

i just installed that version on my Gear (after hosing it) then proceeded to flash TWRP then null 23 - no issues what so ever
I just brought a gear that come with software version v700xxuamii and I wonder if I can root this version to use the gear with an iphone 5s.... I'm new on android and galaxy if any one can help me....
