You will have eventually to either get used to this swap, or change rom. That simple. I think CM will not come back. However when Environment.getExternalStorageDirectory() method, gets fixed somehow (I guess it is already fixed), it will be normal.

For now if you want to have CM9 with all the other features (just sdcard working on the inverse of CM9), you can try my rom, and install default CM kernel.

I can deal with the other issues, i just want the Play Store to install apps to the internal storage by default, without having to invert emmc and sdcard

Camera and Gallery do not work. I don't get why would they merge something that blows the whole phone? I would be ok with the change as long as Camera and Gallery would work. I do not care where the hell the internel is.

Edit: Settings->Storage->*Hit MENU Button*->Storage Configuration->*TICK*

It should be ticked by default, btw. Not all of us have EXTERNAL cards. =) Every stuff should be installed in the INTERNAL storage BY DEFAULT.

Read the FAQ, if you dont have an external card, do what codeworkx says to do in there.

Being the "we prefer internal memory both labeled emmc AND set as default storage" stand apparently unanimous, I guess is valid to ask:
devs, are you going to set it like that, or are you going to leave it as it is right now?

is there a way to flash a new recovery that is used in rom manger by hand so not from rom manger itself?

I´m having problems using rom manger for flashing with the new storage emmc settings. rom manager itself sees the /emmc but if I select a file to flash the rom manger recovery tries to flash it from /sdcard and fails.

any hint? THANKS

WTF? Im just saying, if you CANT live with it, you better get another ROM, not mine, but any other that have that change reverted.

Also, if you build from source your own nightlies (I wish every users did that, then it will not be people crying like babies because of people trying to help) you can just

Code:
git reset --hard 61bb9acdf155d946a57b5ce8cbf9745e4696fd59

And then apply all the changes, except the swipe sdcard.

Anyway, I find easier, Settings > storage > options > sawp thingy

Codeworkx, TeamHacksung, and the rest of CM team, are doing it great.
Ill sumbit soon a patch to prompt to reboot when swap sdcard option gets checked / unchecked.

Anyone not wanting to download hundreds of MBs of data for gameloft games which are wigging out by the emmc/sdcard switch?

Try this:

Restore a titanium backup of the app and data made before the mounting switch.

Do not launch the app! Using root explorer goto: data/data find your game directory. In shared pref there is an XML with the data folder path. Simply edit and change sdcard to emmc

Another fix for storage incoming (read the comments from the devs too). See change "Ie0976792: use internal storage by default" at "review.cyanogenmod.com/#/c/14960/"

use internal storage by default

- should stop people that don't have an external SD to complain on
fresh install or data wipe...

Change-Id: Ie0976792a8651bfd21dec56939b116a7b539cf15

I too prefer "emmc" to be the internal memory card, "sdcard" to be the external memory card and all apps to install by default to the internal memory card mapped to "emmc".

Fingers crossed.

I cherry picked this, it doesn't appear to do what you think it will. At least it didn't seem to do anything for me at all, but I have an external memory card.

I am so confused.. I don't care what the mounts are called an all that, I can get used to it.. but ES file explorer is still showing the mounts the wrong way around.

It shows /mnt/emmc as the SD Card and the mdt/sdcard as the extended internal storage..

I will try a full wipre

It works EXACTLY as codeworkx said it would. No one is saying that the implementation is buggy.

We are saying that a lot of us agree with "emmc" being internal memory and "sdcard" being a physical card. However, when you pick this option, you are FORCED to have the physical card be the default installation spot. Most of us only use the physical card for music, videos, backups (sms, etc.), not for application data (eg. installations).

If you don't want the physical card to be the default installation spot, you have to change the mount points which puts "emmc" as the physical card and "sdcard" as the internal card. In other words, it takes you back 2 days ago to Samsung's bad labeling.

All we are asking for is for "emmc" to be the internal memory, "sdcard" to be the physical card AND "emmc" (internal memory) to be the default installation spot.

+1 exactly this.

Having stuff that is downloaded from Google Play installed on /mnt/sdcard by default is having odd consequences where apps are installed but don't get loaded correctly so the data is there but after a reboot the app appears to not be installed (see earlier in the thread), this is really the only issue I have, if that is supposed to be the default functionality (which I find hard to believe) then I'll learn how to deal with it.

    CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.0 (ICS), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.

    Code:
    #include
    /*
     * Your warranty is now void.
     *
     * I am not responsible for bricked devices, dead SD cards,
     * thermonuclear war, or you getting fired because the alarm app failed. Please
     * do some research if you have any concerns about features included in this ROM
     * before flashing it! YOU are choosing to make these modifications, and if
     * you point the finger at me for messing up your device, I will laugh at you.
     *
     * Submitting bug reports on nightly builds is the leading
     * cause of male impotence.
     */

    CyanogenMod is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. Linked below is a package that has come from another Android project that restore the Google parts. CyanogenMod does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.

    All the source code for CyanogenMod is available in the CyanogenMod Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to CyanogenMod, please visit out Gerrit Code Review. You can also view the Changelog for a full list of changes & features.

    If you're a bloody noob and getting confused by following simple instructions, go down and read about using the noob-proof ODIN method.

    First time installing CyanogenMod 9 to your Galaxy S II, or coming from another ROM:
    - READ FAQs: http://teamhacksung.org/wiki/index.php/Experimental:GT-I9100:Frequently_Asked_Questions
    - Make sure you're running ICS bootloaders lower than LPH! (if you're unsure, flash the CM9 Resurrection Edition)
    - Make sure you're running a proper working ClockworkMod-Recovery
    - Copy GApps and CM9 ZIPs to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM9 zip
    - Flash GApps zip
    - DO A DATA WIPE / FACTORY RESET (otherwise your calendar sync will not work)
    - Reboot
    - Don't restore Apps using Titanium Backup!

    Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9:
    - Copy CM9 ZIP to your internal SDCard
    - Boot into Recovery
    - Flash CM9 zip
    - Reboot

    Using the noob-proof ODIN method:
    - Download CM9 Resurrection Edition
    - Download GApps and put it onto your internal sdcard
    - Open Odin
    - Choose cm-9-XXXXXXXX-ODIN-galaxys2.tar.md5 as PDA
    - Boot your phone into download mode
    - Connect your device via usb to your computer
    - Wait till Odin has fully recognized your phone
    - Hit the start button and wait till the flash process is finished
    - Device boots automatically into recovery
    - Flash GApps
    - Reboot into CM9
    - Follow above steps to update CM9 to lastest available version (Upgrading from earlier version of CyanogenMod 9)

    I'll focus on I9100 development because it's the device with the most users.
