Can't upgrade my P1000N?

Greetings -
I have a Galaxy Tab GT-P1000N. Firmware 2.2. Baseband P1000LVJJM9. Kernel 2.6.32.9 root@SEI-30 #1, Build FROYO.UBJJ1.

I've successfully upgraded other tabs (USA AT&T, USA T-Mobile) to Overcome using the instructions on their site. However, I cannot upgrade my P1000N at all.

I've tried to use Humberto's kernels - in fact I've tried all four of the Gingerbread kernels on humberos dot com's kernel-p1000l-p1000n.html page.

However, I can't read spanish, and I can't tell what I'm missing.

I can use Odin to restore my P1000N to stock, no problem.

However, when I use Odin to install ANY of the four kernels on the page shown, my display becomes completely garbled. Odin completes, and shows success, and the tab reboots, and I hear the female robot voice converting the system. However, during the conversion process the display is completely garbled. And AFTER the conversion process, the tab goes into a slow reboot loop and I have to force power off, force download mode, and ODIN back to stock... which puts be back where I am now, as shown above.

I didn't think I was a P1000 noob, but I certainly seem to be a P1000N noob, and I'm really sorry, but could somebody please tell me the steps, in order, to get from stock Froyo to Gingerbread Overcome on my P1000N? The OP on this thread suggests that I need to do the Kernel first, but I can't get any kernel to work. Could anyone please help me? I would be very appreciative.

Thank you!
Glen

Seems like I finally found the topic to solve my questions!
Gonna try BOCA RC1 with HumberOS Kernel 20111102 replaced in .zip now! :D

---------- Post added at 04:39 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:01 PM ----------

Got error "status 7" when trying to flash BOCA RC1 with CWM. Using HumberOS latest kernel for gb and following everything from Magrathea's site "NEW SGT7 INSTALL INSTRUCTIONS"

What am I missing? Can someone help?

Thx!

Guys this is for centralizing some links for our tabs.
Pls use the actual diferent threads for specific help.

Error flashing? Probably a bad/corrupt download.

- Tapatalk - SGT-P1000N - BOCA RC1 -

I don't believe there was an error downloading, because this error is not new for me, and I'm not a complete noob in doing this. I have a little experience in flashing and modding android devices.
I saw basically the same error when I had a modded Galaxy S. The solution was to use a different kernel with another version of CWM, but I already tried all HumberOS kernels for gb and OVERCOME kernel 4.0.0 and the same error appears...
Going from CM7 or MIUI also prevented this error, but that's too much work to be done, flashing two roms to get one working! :p

I'll look for the corret thread to ask for help. Thanks anyway!

Hello,

My P1000N tab came with stock 2.3.3 VFJP6.

PDA: P1000NVFJP6
Phone: P1000NUBJP3
CSC: P1000NUUBJPB

It crashes alot and I'm thinking to flash stock 2.3.3 NUBJP7 with Odin

Is NUBJP7 compatible with my device?

Thank you :D

The P1000L should work on P1000N. Please let use know about it if you get a chance to test it. Get a screenshot of the information screen.

UPDATE: Just found a thread on XDA about it. It seems to be a Gingerbread 2.3.6 oficial VIVO (Brazil) provider update.

I just flashed (P1000L rom into a P1000N). So far, no problems detected, although the first boot I catched a glymse of mismatch error but it was so brief that I could not grasp it. So here's the screenshot.

Stock Gingerbread for P1000n

Hi

I have spent hours looking for the Stock gingerbread for the P1000n. HumberOS no longer hosts the file and its not on XDA (or it didnt come up in a search). Can anyone help me?

Also we need a decent guide on how to flash other ROMS for P1000n/l. currently the instructions are mixed up with P1000 's instructions and its not clear. I'll happily help with this once I do it myself.

Try the Overcome guides and their site. They should have a safe Gingerbread for all. The procedure is the same for any P1000*, the ROM is the same. The kernel is what you need diferent. Learn how to used heimdall for flashing just the kernel. Humberos threads have our P1000N kernel with root and the famous CwM Rrcovery for Gingerbread and other versions. Start with Humberos and/or Overcome Gingerbread before trying other ROMs.
Do NOT use ROM Manager.

ronis kernel + boca rom

Iv recently tryed ronis kernel (zImage-p1000l-GB-ronan-20111029) but the touchscreen wont work with boca 2.0.8 or 2.0.9.

humberos cm7 kernel links are all off in his blog, couldn't find it on the searchs on xda that wont point up to his blog back.

looking for a suggested "tek" kernel, as suggested by boca devs, all combinations with this kernels and boca roms installs fine but I have no internal memory (the 16gb stock)

will look some more, if not successfull ill give overcome rom a try, boca seems the more promissing one.

edit: FIXED

Well fellas, my bad here not trying some very obvious: flash kernel AFTER the rom.
So I got myself trying to flash up the roms and now its fully working with kernel 3.11 from goo.im diz repos, flashed up AFTER aplying 2.0.9 boca rom.

all god here on the P1000L for now, ill try more the rom and report if anything unusual.

Overcome?

With the right kernels now, we can flash customs ROM like:
Overcome
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1205990

I've spent a lot of time researching, and I'm sure the answer is right in front of me, but I'm stuck and fading out.

I've got the Ronan 20111029 kernel installed over stock Gingerbread on my P1000N tab, and I'd like to go to Overcome now.

I'd *really* like to go to Overcome 4.1, to match my P1000 (European) tab.

Is that even possible? If so, how might it be done? Wouldn't installing Overcome overwrite the Ronan kernel and send me back to bootloop land?

I'm sure someone has worked this out, and I'm reading thread after thread to try to figure it out, but there's a ton of information to wade through, so if anyone could point me to the steps to take to get this going, I would be most grateful.

Thank you!
Glen

    Hi fellows,

For sure, more than 95% of ROM development at XDA is devoted to P1000 version (Euro/USA/... Galaxy Tab version). Unfortunately (or not...), Samsung released at Latin America two different versions of GT: P1000L and P1000N. My researches shown that theses version has different hardware from P1000 one, and the most important, IMO, is the touchscreen. Conclusion: when we try to use custom ROMs, we aren't able to even use it.

So, I have started this thread to centralize information regarding P1000L/P1000N. Please, if you have these devices and have already tried to use a custom ROM or Kernel, please post the information here. With this, we can verify what modifications we need to make to adapt XDA custom ROMs/Kernels to our GTs.

We have the following topics here on XDA about our devices:

    Humberto's ROM and Kernel (Froyo)

Humberto have compiled a Froyo Kernel and ROM with many improvements

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=974408

    Humberto's Kernel (Gingerbread)

Humberto have modified the original, leaked P1000N gingerbread kernel to add Lagfix and gave us instructions how P1000L users can flash P1000N gingerbread version

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1124224

    My Gingerbread kernel

I have compiled a P1000L/N kernel for gingerbread after the source code release, adding many things like UV, OC, new governors, etc. To avoid mess with Humberto's thread, I decided to start a new one:

    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1274855

With the right kernels now, we can flash customs ROM like:

    BOCA
    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1172307

    Overcome
    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1205990

    CM7
    http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=931857

OBS.: Always refer to P1000L/N Gingerbread thread from Humberto to verify which kernel you need to flash to use one of these ROMs!

    Thanks!
