I admit not having read this entire thread. I have the OB Defender case and do not have any issues with echo. However, I am still new to both the N2 and the OB Defender.

Edit: is the echo on the caller side or on the callee side? I had a complaint about echo from the callee side today. I've never heard any kind of echo from my end... yet.

I have had my GN2 (i317) for less than a week. I got the OB Defender case right off the bat, first time with an OB case. Great case in many ways, but when I was checking out the large size of the GN2, I neglected to allow for the extra bulk of the Defender. That takes it out of the single-hand operation for my average sized hands.

I have 4 complaints about the otherwise great OB Defender case:
1) extra bulk and weight of the defender
2) hard to push the power button and the case flexes and creaks when the PB is pushed
3) screen protector is quite good, but hovers above the actual screen just enough that I can feel a double touch that I find disconcerting. I would prefer a screen protector on top of the GGlass.
4) the hole for the home button is indeed a dust vacuum. Not terrible, but it makes me wish OB had sealed that hole and had a raised section for the home button.

I am torn between wanting a minimalist case (but lose much of the protection). I ordered a cheap one from China. But am considering my options, including returning the Note for the GS4 (unlikely).

How does the Seido active case and holster compare? I vary between putting the N2 in my back pocket and putting it in the holster.

How does the Mercury SQ1 slim fit case do? Or the Ringke slim SF case?

What to do.... mulling my options. Mostly case-wise as I otherwise really like the N2.

I came from an S720C Galaxy Proclaim on Straight Talk running 2.3.6. Not a bad phone or service, all-in-all. But no roaming and lack of current Androids brought me back to the post-paid side of the equation. Now I am tempted to dig into the innards and learn about rooting my N2 and see what sort of trouble I can get myself into by tinkering beyond my comfort zone.

Edit: I moved to the Seidio Active case for the GN2 and liked it. I also tried the Mercury SQ1 case which was nice for a minimalist case. But in the end, I found the GN2 too big as a daily driver and traded it in for the GS4. I'm liking the Speck CandyShell or CS Grip cases on the GS4 with a cheap eBay holster. No regrets on the move to the GS4. It fits me better for my usage.

All right guys thanks for the feedback.
I am personally experiencing a lot of people saying they are hearing themselves double.

Anyone know a fix?

Push out the clear plastic screen protector/dust collector and apply a regular screen protector. I had the same issue and now its gone and I don't miss having all that dust getting in under it.

Anyone aware of a Desk Dock that fits the Defender? I'm looking to charge and enable USB audio out so I can plug a 3.5mm cable into the dock.
Tmobile Note 2- powered by XDA magic.

Why is it that Otter does not react to the screenprotector problem that most people are having with their Defender case???
I wanted one, until I read about all these SP troubles.
Now I will wait for Otter's resolution to the problem, or I'll buy another brand case.

DONATE TO ME
I put a thin plastic type screen protector on my screen.. Then put the case on my phone with the built in one. It gets the build in one close the the screen. Less noise touching it and also the applied to phone screen protector prevents the dust that gets under the built in one from scratching the screen.

The touch function still works very good..

Its double protection .
Its my Nexus 7 Get your own.Play nice and follow the rules or you WILL end up in the knob jail Cell

Otterbox is a good company. They replaced my Defender case free of charge because my other one was damaged (tabs broken) due to having to pull the case apart numerous times to get the dust/lint out that would accumulate under the screen protector (SP). When I received the replacement case first thing I did was remove the SP. I then put a peace of thin foam between the back of the phone and case to alleviate any movement/creaking noise. Works great!
