Text to speech won't turn off even if set off on settings

Hey guys,
Well it happens that, when reading a book using kindle, the text to speech feature won't stop reading the book even when the text to speech option is off in settings.

Has anyone experienced this?
How can I disabled the darn thing ?

Turns out I was able to fix the issue by fully un-rooting the device and then going for a factory reset.
Now Text To Speech is behaving as expected and can go back to peacefully reading.
