I got the files to boot but it won't go to the main os, I see the hero gif and the htc loader but it doesn't boot beyond that point. Any pointers? edit
in fact all it does is boot htc logo then black screen then hero gif then htc logo black screen then hero gif
lather rinse repeat

no, it can be used on RAPH/BLAC/TOPAZ/RHOD, it's already tested on blac, raph and rhod and reported that the OS boots fine

zImage - linux kernel (the absolute 'hub' of the linux OS)<= right
modules.xxx.xx - additional files required by kernel.<= contain drivers and modules it's an extension to the kernel as the actual kernel can't exceed 3Mb
initrd.gz <--- unclear what this is<= initial boot sequence
rootfs.img <--- what's this?<= the filesystem core structure, contain specific devices parameters like which driver to load to which device
system.sqsh <--- what IS this actually storing.... is it Android or is it customisation or is it both??<= this is the Android OS filesystem it contains customisation too

conf\xxx.conf <---- this is also unclear<= contains swap and memory usage partition

I have a boot
if you have the android apps folder remove it
I'm on a touch pro 2 world but strange thing is that while it loads I don't get hero build I get something else
actually it began to look like 1.6 and it still does
I'm not sure even though I have a boot I don't have widgets or anything
I'll post screen shots

klinux any idea y would wifi not work with raph110? since its uses the same zimage as the xandroid one it should work right?,oh and btw hw3d is working fine now, all i need is wifi and keep expresso.

good luck and nice work cant wait for updates(even do im not a blackstone user XD)

Hey klinux, I installed android 2.1 following your instructions and it worked like a charm but the battery status is still showing as charging even though I reset it and started it up again... Is tht a bug??? and also the keypad is not covering the width of the screen and it's really small

edit startup and remove battery fake parameter I keep it to avoid battery 5% message

the keyboard is the only one that can be cooked use anykeyboard or wnn from market

me too i have the same probleme battry still showing as charging and also the keypad is so small any corrective fo bugs;)

How would you say this android is compared to "glossy"?

You can update if you want, but backup your android files, test espresso, it can satisfy you, but there's some annonying issues, as the size of the Keyboard.

Yea I agree test it if you want it but wouldn't recommend it yet to use it as a stable OS cause it is still in a beta stage and more ways to go :D

I can hardly wait fer this to get finished I really like the Android OS :D

Battery issue

Hi Klinux,

Thank you for this 2.1 version of android. I noticed that the battery indicator is incorrect. Nothing new as we all know that this is a problem with the current versions of android, but this time android thinks it's on the charger while it's not.
WIFI working great. Keyboard too small. Will try another one to see if that one is displayed correctly.
Thanks for the good work, think it's better than 2.01 eclair one already.

It's HTC_IME.apk......only vga supported!!!Have you tried HTC_IME.apk from Desire?

@KLIUNX:Sorry...I appreciate your work..but it's an only truncated Enatefox's Expresso without Rosie!Rosie(like some other HTC's programs) won't works propertly cause resolution issues..!!!It's developed only for VGA resolution...before the arrival of Desire.
I'm working on porting from Desire...I'll upload a build as soon as possible.....I hope... (Unfortunately I have little time available, but really want).
Continue with your work KLINUX....we need new developers for faster porting...

could you give details? when you switch it on did it switch from enabled to disabled or nothing change

    As noone tried to fix android 2.1 codename Espresso, I tried and it works !!

    working: (sorry Babijoe, I'm too lazy to write the whole list so I copy/paste it :) )

    I packed all the neccessary files on one archive see link above

    - boot sound removed (I reboot so much so it get me realy ignoyed :D)

    I downloaded the 3 files.
    -eclairhero.user.conf
    -rootfs.img
    -system.sqsh

    As I understand I use a haret.exe and startup.txt file from another build?
    But what modules/zimage do I use?

    the conf file, is it suppose to be directly in root of sd card or in a conf folder?
    Also do I use only one fat32 partition?
    can I use swap and ext2?

    Step-by-Step

    I was once trying to figure this out so here is a step-by-step...as simple as I can make it:

    1) Download base package from post #1.

    2) Unzip to the root of your phone's SD card. Should look like this (image 01.jpg):

    3) Go into the "STARTUP CONFIG" folder and find the STARTUP.TXT that is right for your device and move it to the root directory of the SD card. So now your root will look like this (02.jpg):

    4) Download the latest system####.sqsh from post #1.

    5) Rename it to just "system.sqsh" and move it to the root of your SD card.

    6) Download the latest rootfs.img file from post #1, unzip it, rename it to "rootfs.img" if needbe and move it to the root of your SD card.

    7) Now, you will want to check out http://glemsom.users.anapnea.net/android2/ and snag the latest zimage file and module file. Unzip them and put them on the root of your SD card. You will want to rename the zimage to just "zimage" (no extention).

    So, the end result of your root directory should be something like this:

    Now, to clean things up, you can delete the "STARTUP CONFIG" directory and the "rename_androidapps_after_1st_boot".

    If you have apps you want on there, you can create a folder called "AndriodApps" and throw the apps in there and it will install them during boot up.

    Now, just disconnect from your computer and open up file explorer on WinMo and run Haret...you should get two short vibrations and then your cookin!!!

    Keep updating steps 4, 6, and 7 as needed.
