Awesome if used with Utter!
I wanted to share an awesome use of Atooma. Since we can't use S-Voice to send emails (but texts work well), I wanted a way to send an email to people, using my preferred email account (which for me is Yahoo), by voice, without having to touch my phone... And I can do that now!
First, if you don't have Utter!, you should get that from the Play store. It is an awesome, very comprehensive voice command app that is constantly being updated and can be customized really nicely. You have to link your preferred email account in Utter!. Then download the Utter! quicklaunch shortcut app from the Play store. Now create an Atooma that will launch the Utter! quicklaunch shortcut app when you shake your Gear. There you go! It took me a few days and posts from other people on this site to get this working. You don't want to launch the regular Utter! app because that just opens the app where you can set your settings, etc. You have to have it launch the quicklaunch shortcut app, as that activates Utter! to listening mode. So now, when I have my Gear's screen on and I shake the watch, Utter! gets activated, and it uses the Gear's mic and speaker, so I can speak into the Gear and send emails without even touching my phone!
There is one problem though. I used to have the Gear set so the screen turns on when I look at it, but I had to turn that off because the Atooma Gear shake sensitivity is very high, and my Utter! kept getting activated whenever my Gear's screen turned on and I was just moving my arm around like normal. I don't see a way to change the sensitivity in Atooma (if you know how to, please let me know). So now I have to press the On button on the Gear to just see the time. I think it's worth it, of course, to be able to do what I can do now, but next I am going to see if I can use Tasker to just touch an icon on the Gear and get Utter! to activate. (Installing the Utter! quicklaunch shortcut app on the Gear doesn't work; if you do that and click on it, it complains that there is no network connection.) I don't know if Tasker will know when I click on an icon on the Gear though. If anyone has any other cool way of doing this, please share! Thanks!
