download CMP-738a-update-2011-01-26-rls4.img. plug in your tab to the pc using the usb cord rename the file above to update.img move it to the root of the internal memory once you unplug the usb it will ask if you want to do the update say yes and it'll do its thing. it'll reboot then start showing info about formatting and installing then it'll go back to the desktop then you atta be able to see the market app. rls5 i don't believe you can do that with you have to go a different route so make sure its rls4 once your up and going then you might have to do the Market Fix its simple and defiantly worth it.

Well, I'm downloading the file now... Is there a definitive method to follow, or is the info above and the info on page 1 of this thread the only instructions I need to follow?

Just out of curiosity, is it possible for me to accidentally destroy the tablet by using this? I've been having a lot of fun playing with it - I've installed a few other apps on it, and my kids really enjoy a drawing app I installed and its great for watching movies and listening to mp3s - I'd hate to accidentally destroy it trying to improve it!

Thanks for any advice you can share!

that's the way I did it and didn't have any problems what so ever. if your happy with the way it is why bother upgrading. i mainly installed it bc i felt limited rooting it gives you more options like the real android market (larger collection of apps) rather than the slide...something...... but keep in mind if you do it what ever apps and things you have saved to the internal memory will be erased so you'll have to reinstall that drawing app and what ever else you use

Thanks for the heads up! Maybe I'll give it a try this weekend.

Re-installing the other stuff will be easy - and maybe this will let me install a good browser - the 'stock' one died the first day, and I've been using xScope, which is OK, but I'd like to try out some others. Also, a better media player would be nice. The stock 'video player' thing kind of sucks.

Thanks again!!

Release 4.1 is up.

This release can be updated through the internal memory from Release 1-3. If you are using Release 5 Alpha, you must use the batchupgrade tool to flash back to this.

Where is Root?

I thought that this image rooted the device. I see Superuser, but any app I try to use that requires root, tells me my device is not rooted.

Is anyone having problems with the Kindle app? This is a deal breaker...its the whole reason I want this pad. It installs but will not view or download books.

I just picked up one of these.....how hard should it be to connect to WiFi? Im wondering if something with my device is hosed.

It can see a few networks with decent signals, but when I attempt to connect to them it just goes back to saying they are out of range. This was happening while it was stock, Im flashing 4.2 right now to see if maybe something fixes itself.

Any ideas?

Do you have an 'airport' app running? I installed one and it shuts down wifi, so I need to go into menu>settings>wifi and manually re-activate wifi prior to attempting to connect to a wireless network.

I'm going to give 4.2 a try this weekend - I'll let you know how it works!

Also: has anyone had a problem with the pad getting really really slow? Last night, i just started to get unuseably slow, and I had to delete a bunch of stuff I had installed, and I hooked it up to the PC, after which it worked fine. Any ideas?

Sorry Guys, Didn't expect that much traffic - DropBox temporarily suspended the account. Looking for a new home - will be done by tonight.

Shad

Shad you can use gamefront (former filefront) it's free uploading and downloading without limits I use that as the others have all sorts of non-sense limits to download a file. What the world is coming too. Was never like this back in the 90's.

So it's a Craig Tablet and not Sylvania one @ CVS. Interesting..

Just called my local CVS 24HR and okay it's Sylvania one, I'll pass..

For all the Canadians out there, Zellers is selling this tablet for $149 in stores. It is a pretty cheap tablet, so don't expect too much out of it. It is based on the RockChip 2818, and I have created a rooted update image.

    It asks for force close.

Thanx man, it Must be a Different Version from my Current! Thanx Again...

I just Tried to Rename it Update.img but it Said Invalid Update, the Download is also Only 104k Whats up with that?

Any other Download sites? That one I Dont think is Right...

I rooted my device to a 4.3 when I try to access the marketplace it goes to through the set up and says "This could be a temporary problem your phone may not be provisioned for data services. If it is continued call customer care" I bought this for my younger kids, I'm hoping to get this working for them for Christmas! Please help!

Guys, as I've said earlier I flashed this rooted ROM - Android 2.2 . It's all good. You must flash this ROM through Batch Upgrader. Download it and run...better if you watch Youtube how to root Craig Tablet, but do the same for the file, which you already downloaded.
    It's easy. :)

Also One More Question, there's Currently No Recovery Available for our Tablet is there?

    Nope, unfortunately, no recoveries. :(
