Yes it will break all other ROMs unless both are there

again, there seems to be an issue with mount points on CM9 as well..

When I flashed Siyah RC5, and did the driver swap in the system files, all was well except a few select games, and apps disappeared from my system (probably due to the changed mount points in the latest cm9 nightly.)

So, even if you do get the WIFI fixed, you have a whole 'nother bug hunt to get the mount points corrected for full latest CM9 compatibility ... Hmph.

--I flashed back to CM9 stock kernel and my apps and games reappeared (using kernel cleaning script of course) I then deleted the duplicate files created by some of my app's confusion... lol

I'm underclocked to 1000mhz using performance in ROM Control to set at boot, but CPUSpy is still showing 1200mhz as being used. I saw in the change log that I thought that was fixed. I'm running with tasks AOKP 4/18. Other than that I've had no wifi issues reported earlier. I downloaded at about 10:55est when it seems a fix was posted at 10:46 so I should be good with wifi. Other than that this kernel is running great. I had awesome battery life on rc2.

There does seem to be an error with the over clocking others reported the same on older builds.

And you never had the wifi problem as it was isolated to the newest cm9 nightly. It will trickle down to aokp eventually as they are cm9 based but not for a little while

Edit: oops sorry i missed that s...

I have not tested nightly 5 but im assuming the problem will carry over unless you made a change. Whoever flashed rc 5 can check to see if they have those files in the second folder. If they do then we are golden

As to the mount point deal, i dont think that is kernel related. App data is a rom specific thing i think. Id have to look at the kernel tree again but it would seem like those of us on cm9 will have to make the switch as the dev team seem to have adopted the new mount points... Do a titanium full wipe and restore and hope they dont switch it again.

Edit 2: reread... Huh ill have to look into it tomorrow as to the apps disappearing. Didnt think the kernel had the.... Oh... Brain blast... Kernel has the initramfs and loads init... Ill have to take a second look tho to really find the problem

To clarify though wifi switch fully fixes the wifi aspect? Right?

That is pretty common for all kernels at the moment as they use a common code to control frequency.

Well, SOMETHING in the kernel is causing apps to disappear... CM9 and Siyah really aren't playing nicely right now. I'm telling you. Just spent 5 hours trying to fix it...

www.gokhanmoral.com/gm/

^^ it says here in the changelog that the latest FINAL version is to include a fix for the latest CM9... Since this is RC5, and there's still an RC6 between us and the final... the fix HAS to be in there somewhere... But the source isn't on Github, so we have no idea where to start looking yet.

again. I'M sticking to the CM9 stock kernel until this is fixed. Using Siyah is causing duplicate files between my internal and external storage, and is making certain apps disappear (regardless of where they were installed) - it's very strange...

and to answer your question - yes. Putting those files in their respective places makes WIFI start to work - but there's more to this puzzle than just wifi. :-(

No issues with rc5 since flashing last night. Touch screen sensitivity seems much improved (more GB like). Thanks again, ktoon :)

Hi, has anything tried this kernel on Omega ROM? If yes, which version and how is the experience?

You're running AOKP still right? I'm wondering if anyone with CM9 nightly 19 has installed RC5 yet. I'd like to know how they are working together. I'd see myself but I did a full wipe yesterday and I don't want to go breaking things (WIFI) etc just yet. :D

Working fine here. Had to copy the modules in root explorer to get wireless.
Instructions are a few posts back.

The drain happens regardless if you use bln or not. It's due to the implementation of blnww.

I will test further as I'm not sure if the kernel is the culprit of the barter drain I experienced overnight

No the kernel must be edited to fix wifi out if the box... But it can be used with the module fix.

Mount points aren't changing. Bite the bullet and make the switch now... Shouldn't affect too much

    Dual-Boot instructions and Notes
If you want to have another ROM as secondary ROM, follow these steps:
1.Make a nandroid backup of your existing ROM
2.wipe everything and install the other ROM
3.Boot the ROM and make customizations. Don’t forget to reflash SiyahKernel if the ROM flashes another kernel.
4.Use CWM Touch Recovery to clone your rom as secondary rom.
    5.Restore nandroid backup
6.To boot from the secondary ROM, either press the HOME key or the VOLUME DOWN key when prompted.

    Some notes about dualbooting:
■If you do not make any cloning you won’t be prompted to boot the second ROM.
■you may need to reflash this kernel after a nandroid restore if your nandroid backup is created with another kernel.
■you won’t be able to use mass storage mode for /sdcard in second rom because we have our data and cache partitions on /sdcard. only external sdcard will be mounted if you are using mass_storage mode. mtp should work fine for sdcard.
■once again, you won’t be able to flash any CWM flashable zip to second ROM.
