Hi all,

I'm running a completely unmodified Sprint Note 2. It's currently running Android 4.3, and ever since I took this over-the-air update in December 2013 it's been problematic. I'm looking to root and flash a custom ROM like JellyBomb Domination or SmoothestNote 2/3 Rom on it.

From what I've read I can root this phone using CF-Auto-Root and Odin but that's only recommended if you're planning on keeping the stock Rom. Is that true? Is there a different rooting method like Kongo or something I should use in order to flash one of those two Roms I mentioned above?

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Weird, I got Kingo working and added TWRP but when I go to install JellyBomb v21 it appears to install everything, even says 'You've been JellyBombed!' but when it reboots the Samsung animation occurs, and then it just remains on the word SAMSUNG slowly pulsing the color blue.

Any ideas?

Yes remember twrp I read has some issues with 4.3..
I use ClockworkMod recovery and ROM manager.

root with Kingo...
download ROM manager...
flash cwm recovery through ROM manager...
Make backup..
wipe,wipe,wipe...
flash ROM
reboot
PROFIT....

However I have also read that if you took the 4.3 ota, then flashing back to 4.1.2 is a no go!

try Smoothest 4.3 ROM
or lorays mk4 ROM

I'm no expert but this was the steps that were successful for me...

Please make a note that you can downgrade Android 4.3 to 4.1.2 on the Sprint Note 2. Please follow the guide by @billard412 which will bring you back to 4.1.2 and remove the KNOX apps and bootloader but not reset it. You can find the guide here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2086769

Thanks for the guidance all. I followed that guide, and successfully downgraded back to stock 4.1.2 with the counter reset to zero. I opted for Xposed Framework instead of Jellybomb. Phone is smooth as butter now!
