my dads new galaxy y wont connect to our home wifi it keeps saying connecting disconnected have i to log onto rooter to tell it to accept phone? also what does the wifi indicator look like is it the same as wave 1 for example thanks guys

thanks but i found nothing in security settings to help except for use wifi's for location reasons

Please post your detailed wifi configuration. Which settings are applied at the router and the phone? Especially concerning wifi. If you use encryption you might have to enable an option called "secure permissions" or similar in location and security settings.

Make sure you put the security key in EXACTLY as it is on the router. My girlfriend put the password in lower case on her phone and WiFi wouldn't work. I changed them to all upper case and, et viola, it worked! Lol

Thanks everyone I had to log onto rooter and get it to accept the galaxy y mac address i forgot the settings were changed recently regarding the rooter after a power cut
