With ICS and up, you can freeze some app in the application manager, no need to be root, and ICS only allows freezing not critical apps.
Removing apps is not as useful as on my previous phone, with less system memory and ram.

that cant be used for system apps and bloats that require root permission mate

I can't get swiftkey 3 to work, it keeps wanting to "set-up" then it "stops working"
