[ALPHA][ROM][4.0.4] CyanogenMod 9 for Samsung Galaxy SL - Alpha 14

Mount points as I said are safer the way they are on Alpha 3. I have got my sdcard corrupted on Alpha 2 due to which I have changed the mount paths.
Clear Media Storage data. Its a known issue on few ICS Roms.
but in aplha3 [4.0.3] works well!
what is the difference between alpha3 (test version) and this new alpha3?

Just installed alpha3
Installed alpha3 from kp3.
Process followed:
1. Reboot to recovery.
2. Factory Reset, wipe cache, clear dalvik cache, battery stats.
3. Install alpha 3 zip. reboot and let is rest for 5 mins. Reboot to recovery.
4. Install gapps-ics zip and reboot. Rest for 5 mins. complete setup.
Working:
1. Boot animation - It looks AWESOME!!
2. Wifi (scan not working, add ssid of network)
3. Calls, sms
4. Proximity sensor, screen rotation
5. Both SD cards. (/sdcard and /emmc)
6. Voice Search, active dictation (aka, microphone is apps).
7. No backlight issue.
8. 2g data working

Have you do a Full wipe?
Wipe Factory, Cache and Dalvik Chache again, when you have a blackschreen jet, flash KPQ via Odin, flash a kernel whit Root, and do a Full Wipe after 1st Start. Than do a Full wipe and install the Rom.

on my phone it works very well and it's fantastic.. thank you dhiru for all your work .. but only one think i can't find a file manager in the rom and i can't download it at the moment.. so i can't install titanium for restore.. could you include a file manager in the next relase??
Going from Alpha 3 test version to the latest 4.0.4 breaks most Google apps. After flashing the GApps 1703 version, none of the Google apps are working. Tried clearing data for all those apps but still nothing.

Blackscreen after samsung logo
I followed all above steps mentioned several times, but always after flasing this zip, stucks at blackscreen. Steps i followed:
1. xxkpe clean flash
2. xxkpq flash
3. uc kernel v1009 for rooting
4. wipe data,cache,dalvik cache,battery stats.
5. flash 4.0.4 alpha 3
6. reboot system
also tried flashing on xxkpe directly with same uc kernel. still dint worked.

Where is the full factory reset step in between? Also, use the universal CF-ROOT before flashing the UC kernel. Use UC kernel v1 (for cm7 & MIUI).
Read OP. I'll say this only once before mods step in.
P.S. - My GApps issue fixed with GApps fixer zip. If anyone else faces the same issue, let me know.

wipe data is factory reset. And yes, can u tell which kernel is recommended for 4.0.4 alpha 3 ? Do I need to flash alpha 2 before alpha 3 ?
EDIT: Got it work, flashed alpha 2 before flashing alpha 3.

A few observations/questions for the general populous:
-> I can confirm that on the earlier build that the microphone had a problem sometimes when switching application (i.e. from Swype's Dragon dictation to Google Voice recognition). Is it fixed? <I shall confirm after download and use as well>
-> Performance tweaks are kernel level tweaks or something like build.prop tweaks?
Audio stutter existed on the previous build, while playing music (I use PowerAMP, settings enabled include: DVC on, Priority +2, Auto buffer size). Stutters usually occur when moving the device around (i guess it could be associated with the accelerometer priority or something like that?).
-> I've had problems in the past with the sd-swap (data corruption, and slow app loading at times due to low IO speed [class of card being 4]).
[STRIKETHROUGH]For people who still would like to switch back: try taking the vold.fstab and vold.conf files from the previous build and using it in this build. Additionally, it probably will require a build.prop tweak as well.[/STRIKETHROUGH] As it turns out, it's not that simple, and probably needs to be modified from the mem blocks assignments... which (I'm not ashamed to admit) is beyond me. Future releases of CM9 may provide the ability to swap from within the GUI (unconfirmed).

1. WIFI doesn't work perfectly. Network strength doesn't show up and the network often disconnects.
2. There is LAG in the UI due to lack of Hardware Composer.
3. Front Facing camera preview is improper.
4. Video recording and playback suffers low framerate issues. Will be fixed soon.
5. Built-in WiFi hotspot doesn't work. Please use third party applications.82I am currently working on implementing a custom Audio HAL which would eliminate the use of Samsung Audio Libraries.
The HAL is based on the Nexus S Audio and it has FM Radio "Support" Included which would be useful in the future. Currently the HAL works perfectly except for the Microphone in applications and frequent audio shuttering. If this issues are fixed, we could have an entirely opensource audio implementation.72Good news guys. Got the Still Image capture to work. It works pretty fine with 5MP setting and the picture quality is amazing. I need to test in the daylight to see how it works.
The EXIF info is still not implemented and that would be a headache. I will see to what I could do about it.
