My question is every time I get a update I lose root. OK I know that's gonna happen but I always lose my custom Recovery too. Is that normal? So I lost all my backups. What am I doing wrong or what do I have to do different?

Go into developer options and uncheck "update CM recovery". This option reinstalls the stock recovery after each update.

Not sure if it recovers the previous recovery or just plainly doesn't touch it. I was thinking the second case. Anyway, all you need to do is just reflash the su app as you always have been. Did that on the latest 33, worked fine.
