He could have at least said he'd be dropping it, he's been posting regularly on the threads of the other devices he supports.

Re: [KERNEL][GPL] franco.Kernel - r4

He bought his N10 to enjoy it, not for development. He'll get to this device later - its not his top priority.

Why can't people here on this forum get the idea that the developers don't owe us anything, they'll put out updates when they feel like it. All that does is get the developers upset and delay things even more.

And personally I don't have any issues with this kernel, so not worried.

I'm shocked at how slow this thread moves compared to the n4 thread. I figured there was a ton of 10 owners out there.

No, I'm just enjoying the device, thats why I bought it, it wasn't for developing - that comes after. Current state is pretty good though.

That is from Franco himself, just because it's slow doesn't mean it's not being updated. I'm a 100% positive France will continue to update this kernel, it's just not going at the speed some think is appropriate.

Some people just need to relax a bit.

Agree, he has just sorted out the colour in the nexus 4 and it is stable as hell. R71 is probably the milestone for the nexus 4. Let's hope he will move his development to the nexus 10

Only had the 10 for 2 days so not really up to speed on how often this is updated.

Nexus 10 forums (not just this thread) are about 3x slower than the Nexus 7. Nexus 10 is selling a lot but it is still $150-$250 more expensive than the Nexus 7. So while it is selling well it is still probably not moving anywhere close to the amount of volume the 7 is. 7 is a lose leader.

Franco is working on kernel for us who also have the nexus 4 and he told a follower on his twitter this:

"Coming soon, had other priorities before adding some cool stuff to the N10 :) "

he reply that after some user told him that we miss him here at the nexus 10 forum.

So all we have left is to wait, but in the meanwhile i will keep tweaking my N4 with his kernel.

I've noticed they aren't as active as the N4 threads are. I really like what I'm running on it now, but I can't wait to see what Franco does with the 10's kernel.

Tablets are just a different ball game. I used to own a Galaxy Tab 10.1. Bought it when it was released and kept it up to a month ago. That was a $500 retail tablet when it was new also. That forum was always rather slow too compared to the Nexus S forums (back when the phone was still hot property). It might just have to do with buzzwords. The general untechy population knows about rooting phones because of the buzz generated with jailbreaking iphones.. Those same people probably don't even connect the dots to tablets..

If only they knew what they were missing...

Hey all. I hate bloated OP's so this is a simple one. I don't post changelogs in here, only when I released new versions so you'll have to search for it.

Just for general awareness this is compatible with CyanogenMod based roms.

    Download:
    4.4

    How to flash:
    fastboot flash boot image_name
    or
flash the zip in your custom recovery

    Source:

    Kernel changelog:

    F.A.Q.
    1. My tablet exploded, halp!
A: I don't answer to problems without a log. The log file is in /proc/last_kmsg. Retrieve it from your device and attach it to your post.
    2. This kernel works on Y or X rom?
A: This is one of the worse questions you can ask on my threads. This is a Nexus, it works on every rom you can possibly imagine.
    3. OMG BETTARY SUCKZ, IT DEAD IN 45 MINUTAS, HALP!
A: As you can imagine I don't build kernels to decrease battery life. All the battery life problems come from your apps, either Facebook, or Maps, or some Location Service being enabled etc etc. Check your damn wakelocks and fix them, the kernel is not responsible for them.
    4. How do I flash this?
A: Reading the OP, theres a reason why I added instructions on it.

Hey guys. I've been doing a lot of idle tests because I've tweaked the power states latency on this device and I've got great results, so here is r8. Contains that lower latency which means it will enter and leave the C power states much faster which will probably achieve a good battery boost. Also contains a few tweaks to the memory bus frequencies adding a little bit of throughput when needed and some patches from upstream. I still haven't got time to look into to some Color Control on this display, I'll try to look at it further during the weekend, work has been hectic.

4.2.2 kernel source are out, later when Im off work I'll release a kernel compatible and a few other changes I have in mind - I was waiting for 4.2.2 ro update this kernel.
    32
    r13
    * Compatible with 4.3
    * Compatible with CyanogenMod and its derivates
    * Added ROW I/O and made default
    * Lots of I/O patches from upstream
    * Updated interactive governor to its last version from Android's gerrit
    * Updated CPUidle subsystem so that the device spends more time at the deepest states for better power consumption
    * Merged patches from Colin Cross to decrease power consumption
    * Updated the Wi-Fi driver to its latest version from Android's gerrit
    * Merged USB Audio changes from CyanogenMod to enable the usage of USB DAC's plugged to this device
    * Partitions properly mounted for increased I/O performance
    * Removed lots of debug from the Kernel
    * Disabled memory throttling if the device hits thermal throttling point

I'd like to wish you all a Merry Christmas, lots of food, kisses, hugs, and quality time.

Thanks for sticking with FK even though this is not one of my priorities Kernel wise, although I promise to be more active like I did with the latest two releases. Very happy with r15 - but more improvements are coming.
