Hi, I am trying to learn about Native Ubuntu Linux and I would like some guidence please. I down loaded Win 32 Disk Imager for windows to allow me to write the rootfs image to my sdcard using my laptop, which went ok.
Can some one confirm what I have done is ok please.
If you can boot from SD card - all right)) Your sd card should already be partitioned and rootfs image should be moved to first linux partition. I'll add into howto "windows" version as soon as possible.
I didn't partition my sdcard for linux I just wrote the rootfs image straight to it.
Can you tell me how I partition my sdcard for Linux please.
I think you can use BootICE. Select your SD --> Parts Manage --> ReFormat usb disk --> USB HDD mode (single partition) --> ... Also, I think you need to set partition ID (by Change ID button in Parts Manage menu)
Please, describe the process in more detail, if you will succeed.
Just want to confirm what format and what size to partition to.
Format? Ext4, but if you search partition id - it is 83 - Linux.
Size: I have 8018MB sd card (img size = 7829504 blocks = 8017412096 bytes)

Sorry but one more question did you use a sd card or a micro sd card

Hi, I downloaded bootlice and formated my micro sdcard to ext4 then wrote rootfs to the card using win32diskimager and I tried Roadkil's disk image but when I check to see what is on the card there is nothing there also when I put the card in my keyboard/dock my tablet doesn't read or see the card, any idea what is going wrong please. My card is class4 32g Sandisk.
You can see data into sd card, but your android recognize only fat32 sdcards. That's ok - you can mount this sdcard (if you android is rooted). Also you can check sdcard by virtual machine with linux (virtualbox - is best choice, i think).
Next step - reboot into fastboot mode and boot linux through fastboot.
Yes I am rooted and unlocked, when you say mount the card I take it you mean insert it the sd card slot. I am at work now so I will try tomorrow to boot through fastboot. Thanks again.
Hi, I tried today to load through fastboot but no joy, this happened,
downloading 'booting'...

I would like to prepare this howto (after stabilization and fixing minor bugs) for general users. But thanx for you response - brainy people do not come here?Really appreciate you effort! Why not post this in the developers forum, where you might get some good inputs from other brainy people like yourself.
How does this vary from the other Ubuntu effort? Why not combine resources?
