i haven't and don't know how. but try an app called maluuba. it's pretty slick and does things that google now does.

I have the modified google now .apk's. Just wasn't sure if anyone has tried it yet.

I think you and I are going to be waiting for a little while for someone to develop a ROM lol

lol. it reminds me the time i was one of the early adopters to the galaxy exhibit ii 4g. it had no roms and no development. a year later, it has the latest jelly bean and CWM and overclock kernels and now has a thriving dev community on xda.

I'm contacting some xda developer friends to convince them to buy the lenovo a2107 so they can start developing for it. lol. my guess is within 6 months we will have some custom roms and kernels. the MTK6575 A9 processor can be overclocked to 3 ghz i believe. imagine that! this tablet has so much potential for the $149 price tag.

If there was even the slightest thing developed for the a2107a-f I would have one of the Note and Note II guys I know try and make something. I just don't want to deal with all of the headache of testing everything out for him and sending him logs.

yea i hear you. If this tablet gets jelly bean 4.1 stock rom and an overclock kernel say to 1.5mhz or something, i'd be thrilled! 4.1 is much better than 4.0. maybe lenovo will send out an update in a few months.

I would have loved to see this tab succeed but I don't think its going to. i think its orphaned already. Lenovo in usa seem oblivious, pushing instead a lousier A1 thing. still, I'd love to see one of you or someone else do a Thorough youtube review with plenty of technical info - how does it perform. it suffers from the same ugly shortcomings all cortex a9 SoC's do [except one] in that the devs cannot get to the hardware to make it perform in video/audio decoding in hardware ... secondly it lacks a 720p minimum display.
I doubt seriously it will sell well should you want to dump on ebay after a few months.

i hope I'm wrong.

the big brother a2109 seems to be the more loved, despite its bulk and a very pedestrian display - its got the right feature set and soc...

Yeah I hear you, but all we need is one clean google rom, 4.1 at least and overclock and I think this tablet will serve well. i mean it's so damn cheap and is nicely built.

CWM installation

Dear all

...
Manual

Device formating

1. Open SP Flash Tool
...
6. Close SP Flash Tool

Installing CWM Recovery ROM

1. Open Smartphone Multiport
...
4. Press Start all
... if nothing happend press the "reset button" on a back of your device.
After this operation you will have a CWM Recovery, but not a main firmware!!!

Installing main firmware

I found that it's much easier to install CWM 6015 according to http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?p=35406316 ;)
It was just a snap to do it with MobileUncle and without using the reset button.
The only trouble I had  was just with generating the new recovery.img because I first had to add the correct write and change permissions for everyone to my working directory on Windows7 for making the tools operating correctly.

The old firmware is still working. The benefit is: you can make here a complete backup of your old stock ROM out of the CWM environment with all your customized data, so if anything goes wrong you could restore it.

(If somebody knows how to do it: this could be part of a restoration algorithm for getting the old user data out of the images, like email accounts, messages, game scores, registrations and more ... if not backed up :( - like it should be ...)

1. Copy A2107A-H v9.zip and gapp-ics.zip to sd card.
2. Boot in to CWM Recovery mode by:

- Press the "reset" button on your device

A Shutdown of the system does also work, but anyway ...

- Press and hold for a 3 sec. "power" button on your device (after 3 sec. releas the buton)
- When you see "lenovo" logo press and hold vol+ and vol- untill you will boot in to CWM Recovery mode

In a CWM Recovery Mode

...

IMEI repair and ROOT installation

1. Connect your device to the PC (device must be turned on and connected as "USB debugging" and "Media device)
2. Start MTK Droid Tools
3. Press Replace IMEI (fill up IMEI 1 and IMEI 2) and save
4. Reboot device

On this point you should have a IMEI working, if not repeat IMEI repair from point 3.

5. Press ROOT button if the program ask for anythink press "YES" (your device will reboot 2 or 3 times and it will be ready to go).

Enjoy!!!

After upgrading I realized that the IMEIs on my pad kept there original data so I was not required to correct it.
So it's wise to check that first ...

Finally it was a very good experience in upgrading from an ordinary tablet to a SmartPhoneTablet.
My best Thanks !!!

    New links for ROMs

ROMs uploaded on Dev-Host server ... No bugs except USB OTG and extra Language support, sorry about that

Please remember to back-up your "/data/nvram" folder from your stock before flashing and replace after flashing these so that you all don't use wrong IMEIs, MAC addresses, Serial number etc. Also do all three wipes before flashing (data, cache and dalvik cache)...And yes, be patient cause the first boot after flashing may take up to 3 minutes...

All files posted here are to be flashed using CWM recovery with "Install zip from sdcard" option !!!

    1. For complete power-off in LeWa modded ROM, you have to un-check "settings--->Accessibility--->Quick Boot"
    2. May have to install the patch (link below) to set internal sdcard as default memory after flashing modded Foxtrot and LeWa ROMs

    Sure, no problem !
After several hours of search and difficulties to register onto Chinese websites ;)
I managed to find the attached file. I take no credit for the tool because it was developped by someone else (SNARL I guess)
It was missing the superuser apk inside so I put it back and also translate the steps to English.

    Here are the steps :
    - Connect the tablet in Debug USB mode
    - Launch root.bat
    - The device will reboot at each of the 3 steps

If you need more info, don't mind to ask!
