Hi everybody.

I am new to android. I have SGS II with:

-PDA: I9100XWKF3
-PHONE: I9100XXKE7
-CSC: I9100XXKF1

STOCK FIRMWARE NOT ROOTED.

I downloaded i9100XXKG1.zip file which contain the following files.

-CODE_I9100XXKG1_CL349526_REV02_user_low_ship.tar
-GT-I9100-CSC-MULTI-OXAKG1.tar
-MODEM_I9100XXKG1_REV_02_CL1034110.tar
-u1_02_20110310_emmc_EXT4.pit

If I rename this file and place into /sdcard folder is it possible to update my phone to the latest fw or not?

Do NOT do that you have to use odin and there are plenty of guides on the dev section on how to flash.

But a quick recap is install kies and then install odin, download the tar file put the phone into download mode and then ONLY click the pda button and point to the tar file and click start.

I REPEAT DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING ELSE.

Why do you want to flash a leaked non-official release the first thing you do if you're new to Android?
SGS2 is a great phone that gives a great experience out of the box, my suggestion is to update to latest official firmware for your region and then start to learn SGS2 and Android one step at a time.
There are tons of things to learn, it like learning a new language, it takes time. And starting with advanced stuff directly is asking for trouble.

Of course you're free to do as you want, but this is my recommendation.

The first step into the more advanced tweaking is to root the phone but I wouldn't hurry with that either.

I placed the low file in PDA, the modem in phone and csc in csc and then flashed, worked perfectly, that is the proper way to update I believe.... Don't do nothing with the pit file! Delete the pit, pit = danger;)

Thanks.

Thanks for your replies.

The only reason I want to update to 2.3.4 is because of video chat with gtalk.
I bought my phone In Sweden and it is Updated with latest available official firmware.
I am owner of a Bada phone and an Archos IT5 (Android 1.6) so I am not completely new to android os.
But anyway thanks a lot for your help.
