Hello, just installed this Dark Knight (Devil Kernel) 5.5 yesterday, and what I find my phone doing is freezing every once in a while, for some time, then it works again. Today, Launcher froze so I had to reboot.
I would like to know if this is an issue with any other users, if you know something I can do to fix it, or whether it's just the way it is with the SGS i9000 and the only way is to revert back to, say, 2.3.6.
Please note that I couldn't figure out how to install the init.d fix in the first post. I went to Settings -> ROM Tweak Dark Knight -> Start-up Tweaks and allowed Superuser permissions, but then what? How do you install the fix file, and what does it do? Will it fix the freezing issue?

Isn't JB going to be heavier on the same 1GHz processor? Maybe I'm thinking about this the wrong way.
Has the freezing issue been common with ICS?
I'll give it a shot, can you please kindly recommend a link to start from? I know for sure there isn't an official JB for i9000, so a port is the way to go. Or cooked?

There you go HellyBean by DerTuefel , the best one out there, i am using it for few month and it is great!
Flash hellybean rom or better then that try slimbean rom
(hellybean is difficult to install, that's my personal opinion as I experienced many issues) Slimbean smooth and stable.. Don't worry about processor as you can overclock the cpu (via the kernel)..
My slimbean rom runs as smoothly as butter & roars like a lion
(to make it more responsive & smooth, I've set my cpu at 1.2mgh.. But it runs as good on 1.0mgh)

Thanks guys. I've already installed HellyBear yesterday. Looks smooth so far. I would have reviewed it further, but there's no market?

Also, is it just me or are most replies nowadays a promotion of a different ROM rather than addressing stated issues?

I suspect the entire gapps pack is gone. I saw in the installation process that it was being backupped and restored, but I see nothing Google on my phone.
And the weather widget isn't working, so this must be it. Gapps or something.

just search for gapps in the search engine, very easy =), sorry i dont have time to find the link ^^;

Install the main rom first go to Rom control/Start-up Tweaks. Allow superuser Permission. Then Install this fix.

Please Wipe Your Data and Cache partition Before install. Otherwise you will have Problem.
