I just got a Verizon HTC one M8 from Craigslist. The guy told me it is rooted. I want to go back to stock, just like it came from the box. When I hold down the volume down and power buttons to get into the booltoader, it tells me at the top that it is locked and s-on. What do I need to do to return to stock. Superuser is installed and when I use the unroot within the Superuser app, it will unroot but return to rooted after a restart. Thank you.

I don't see how it's rooted with a locked bootloader?

Towelroot or something?

Have you actually tried a root app, or root checker app to see?

You can't possibly have a custom recovery... And I can't see how superuser can be working?

Maybe they just installed it.... But it shouldn't work.

I will try a root checker app and get back with you. Thank you.

I downloaded a few root checker apps from the Play store. All but one said I was rooted. I don't have BusyBox installed. I want to go back to stock. Please help.

Also, if I'm not really rooted, how can I get the SuperUser app off my phone?
