What is tapatalk? Is it just another name for the xda app?

Tapatalk is a mobile app built specifically for forum access xda, android central and many more etc....

That's what I thought. But, i don't have tapatalk installed.

1) I turned off notifcations in the xda app, but i am getting 'tapatalk - xda premium' notifications saying 'unread subscribed topics.'

2) Also, why in the xda app - settings - signature - why does the signature field say tapatalk?

*SUPER LARGE MOBILE SIGNATURE*

Because the XDA apps are stripped down versions of tapatalk, that have the same features, but of course you can only access xda from the xda apps, whereas tapatalk can have multiple forums.
