So this worked for me with the Softwareversion 7.2.2 ! :)

Step 1 use this tool http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1886460 and use the normal method.
(the program will say that the process has not worked but this it all ok) now the Kindle is very slow
and the display is blinking.

Step 2 now you use the Quemu Method for the 7.2.1 version (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1893838)

That was all and now you should have root!! n:D

*Update: This works also with the 7.2.3 Software version :) i only used the 1 Step ( Root many Androids )

Isn't this the same tool used to root the 8.9? But we use option 2 with the tool instead of option 1.

Root for Amazon 7" Kindle Fire HD Software Version 7.2.2

Thanks to natorus87!:good:

Step 1 Use "Root MANY ANDROID!" http://xdaforums.com/show....php?t=1886460 and use the Normal Method. Pay attention, at some point you will have to respond to a "Restore" dialog box on the Kindle itself. Ignore any errors. The Kindle will reboot and now responds Slowly.

Step 2 Use "Qemu automated root" http://xdaforums.com/show....php?t=1893838 and allow the process to complete.

Step 3 Launch Apps-Superuser to initialize Superuser.apk

That was all you now have Root.:D

KFHD7 7.2.2 re-root successful!

Worked for me also on previously Qemu rooted KFHD7 recently OTA updated to 7.2.2.

I also had to use both steps. Serious brownshorts minute between steps 1 and 2 as it set there frozen and seemingly bricked.

Thanks

Hey, appreciate this, but when I click on your link it takes me to another xda page with several links. Nowhere does it show "step 1." Can you be kind enough to cut and paste the specific step? Thanks.

This works for KF2 as well. Just Step 1 will do. The ADB in the zip file is not updated, so you have to download the newest SDK and then copy all the files from /platform-tools/ to /stuff/ in the unzipped location (overwrite all existing files) and run the batch file after.

ADB install still doesn't work after. So install a file explorer direct from the Kindle and do all the necessary there.

What a great news before the Chritsmas!
As exactly you described, after step 1, the system became kind of slow. I didn't bother to check if it was back to root and just ran step 2; then the system is back to charming as before. Thank you!
PS: I personally feel that 7.2.2 is smoother and faster than 7.2.1.

Thank you!

Worked great! Had to do both steps. Does it matter that I now have both SuperSU and Superuser? Only have the option to remove superuser and not superSU.

Thanks again

Luis

I've tried downloading the link on page 1 but it fails to extract. What page is the link on because there are 131 pages in the thread and I can't find it. Thanks in advance.

ADB not recognising device

For anyone else who may have had the same problem as me,

I had to move the ADB files over from the original SDK becuse the adb files within qemu and bin4ry's exploit didn't recognise my device.

The first part was easy, removed the adb file from binary's root and replaced it with the adb file from SDK.

The second part was not so easy.

I had to manually to the qemu root process by creating a new file. (The full cmd version is found here http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1893838)

I had to copy the adb file and the AdbWinApi.dll and AdbWinUsbApi.dll from the SDK into a new folder. the added the su and superuser.apk files into it aswell.

Hope this helps anyone else that had my problem!

Hey,

I'm looking to purchase the Kindle fire HD 7 for my girlfriend. I'm going to be under the assumption it will be up to date or will automatically update to 7.2.2. So can I use these steps to root 7.2.2 or would I have to follow the steps for rooting 7.2.1 as shown here beforehand? http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1891939

Many thanks and well done to the community!

Just completed 're-root and everything is well. Don't forget to remove lockscreen adds by renaming the dtcp_apk.apk file by adding .bat. File is located in system/app folder. You can use root explorer to do this.

[/COLOR]For anyone having to do the manual method i'm going to try and post the link to my file i made with the new ADB files, kindle adb drivers, SU and Superuser.apk.

    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/92593000/root.zip

So as i said before, follow the first step as mentioned already. (Although for this i had to extract the adb file and replace it with mine aswell)

Once you've completed the first step, you then follow the qemu manual cmd prompt entry. Follow this brilliant video from reverendkjr (http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1891939)

    The manual commands are here:
    adb shell
    rm -r /data/local/tmp
    ln -s /data/ /data/local/tmp
    exit

    adb reboot

    adb shell
    echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop
    exit

    abd reboot

    adb shell mount -o remount,rw /system
    adb push su /system/xbin/su
    adb shell
    chown 0.0 /system/xbin/su
    chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
    rm /data/local.prop
    exit

    adb reboot

    adb install Superuser.apk

The original instructions can be found here:

    http://www.androidpolice.com/2012/09...-how-to-do-it/

Just for reference none of this work is mine all credit for this work goes to sparkym3 and reverendkjr. I just made the file with the latest adb files.

When Rev tells you to enter the directory for your adb, link to the file downloaded from the dropbox link above.

Should all work then :) If not let me know and i'll try to help where i can. Worked great for me!

    You are one great guy

It worked like a charm. I had to use both steps and in the middle of the Root_with_Restore all my icons and images disappeared (big panic), They reappeared towards the end of the Quemu and all went well,

So, if it happens to somebody else no need to panic!

    Thanks again indeed ::victory:
