May be a dumb question but why does the flash count even matter? I mean unless your planning on an insurance/warranty claim? Even then wouldn't they still be able to tell since in device info it will say modified? Is there a way to root stock without upping the flash counter so it wont show modified in device info? Just curious, thanks.

Well the process of flashing a phone is considered to be a dangerous process. So just in case if anything happens to your phone during a flash, you should reset the counter often to be on the safer side. Because the first thing Samsung does is check the flash counter to see i you have tampered with it.

EDIT :Here's a GUIDE to root without increasing the counter

Yes of course, but lets say the phone still works. In order to reset the flash counter you need to be rooted, and when you root the phone it changes the system size which then makes the device say modified. So if the phone still turns on (lets say it was just a problem with the screen bleeding) they will still see its been modified.
In this case you can just flash a stock ROM of your region via Odin and the device status will be NORMAL plus there will be no binery increment.
