Widget Scanner

What it is?

Most of you have heard about ROM Cleaner, it's been released for 10 different devices most of them are HTC devices.

The biggest problem we have been facing with HTC devices is when we remove system apps from the device it will in most cases result in a incomplete widget list and the only way to bring them back is to clear HTC Sense data.
By doing so we are forcing HTC Sense to reload our widgets.

Of course this method works perfectly but since your home screen will be restored to default it's a real pain to recreate all your shortcuts and widgets on the home screen.

With "Widget Scanner" we are now able to force HTC Sense to reload the widgets without clearing anything at all!

When to use it?

  • If you are missing widgets, even if you didn't remove them.
  • If you have been flashing a mod that resulted in missing widgets.
  • If you have been removing HTC Sense apps after the initial boot process.
  • If your widgets for a "unknown" reason just disappeared.
  • If you have been restoring/installing HTC widgets.

How to use it?

  • Download "Widget Scanner" and copy the zip to your sdcard.
  • Reboot into recovery and flash it just like a ROM.
  • Follow the instructions in the AROMA Installer.
  • When done, Reboot.

Update - Widget Scanner v1.1

Just some minor changes to make debugging easier (if needed that is :p)

After you have used widget scanner successfully, the power menu will load right away.

(A small description for how to add this script in to a ROM can be found in the aroma-config)

Enjoy! :D

Appreciated

I Must say, this would of been useful for me back when I had my samsung captivate and was always looking for a new Rom weekly, Now that I have my GNote..well I stick with Panaroid Android Rom..although we still have some bugs I rarely flash another Rom. Still, THANK YOUUUU a million times for this. Im sure someone will find it helpful in their journey to flashing zips.

You're welcome :D

But, it can be useful as well when you only use one Rom that has (many) updates, so you can "dirty" flash without having to setup your homescreen.

Besides that, widgetscanner can easily be used by ROMdevs to integrate it in their rom(s). Some of them have gotten Patrics83's permission and they're actually started using it already

Sv: [SCRIPT] Widget Scanner v1.1 AROMA | Reload HTC Widget List | For All Sense 4.x R

Will be trying this later today. Looking good!

Cool :)

Just make sure you know when to use it ;)

When to use it?

  • If you are missing widgets, even if you didn't remove them.
  • If you have been flashing a mod that resulted in missing widgets.
  • If you have been removing HTC Sense apps after the initial boot process.
  • If your widgets for a "unknown" reason just disappeared.
  • If you have been restoring/installing HTC widgets.

So if you wanna see if it works, you can simply remove a HTC widget, reboot and check if it's gone. Then restore the widget again, set permissions and reboot.
The widget will not show up in the widget list, but after widget scanner it will ;)
