Same problem occured to me as well, solved by:

Check your imei and key.
Enter the key in CAPITAL letters , that was the problem for me.

My device is Sony Xperia P with ICS 4.04 with the build number 6.1.1.B.1.75

My problem is that yesterday I made 2 backup on my phone with the " Back up & restore " program and then tried to root my device with the method expressed in http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1900172
But unfortunately, not only it did not work, but also made it impossible to backup my backup
I think that it just hide my backup files and did no delete them. Because the free space for memory has not been raised. On the other hand, I can not see backup files in the folder " Sems-fullbackup" in X-plore program.


Now I think that it is preferable to recovery my SD card, but unfortunately it is impossible in ISC to be in MSC mode. So I cannot use common program to recover it. It should be said that everything is my SD card exist, like photos,videos,musics,...etc. except backup files. but I have lost many things like my contact list, messages, notes, ....

What about downloading FlashTool?
If you've done so already, the drivers are included...
If you haven't, do it. You'll need FlashTool one day and when you do, you'll be forever grateful you downloaded it...

Wait, to follow this thread's instructions, you NEED flashtool... So you basically either already have FlashTool or need it.
