Trouble flashing to CM 10.1

Hey guys I cannot for the life of me get this rom to flash onto my rogers e971. I have read all the guides and followed every step yet I keep getting a status 7 error.

Here are the steps taken on my latest attempt (previous attempts were flashing on E97120d)

1) KDZ'd from E97120d to E97110d
2) Rooted with motochopper and unlocked bootloader with freegee
3) Loaded cm-10.1-20130709-UNOFFICIAL-geeb_ca.zip, JDQ39_bootloader.zip, and gapps-jb-20130301-signed.zip onto internal memory of phone
4) Rebooted phone and entered recovery (cwm 6.0.15)
5) Installed JDQ39_bootloader.zip through the cwm recovery
6) Rebooted phone and entered recovery
7) install zip from sdcard -> choose zip from internal sdcard -> cm-10.1-20130709-UNOFFICIAL-geeb_ca.zip -> yes
8) This is where I keep getting this error message:

Installing: /sdcard/cm-10.1-20130709-UNOFFICIAL-geeb_ca.zip

EDIT: Was able to install houstonn vanilla rootbox geeb without a hitch. I am still clueless as to why i keep running into status 7 error when attempting to install cm10.1

Install new twrp for geebus with fastboot then try again.

Thx a ton for the tip chad! Using twrp i was able to install cm10.1. going to do some wipes and stuff to make sure I get a clean install now (device info strangely showed that it was a e973 (not e971). Is this normal?

Yup, there is no "E971" rom, only E973. The phones are basically the same so didn't took the time to make 2 roms since it would be a waste of space and time.

Hey guys, so my gf just got this guy a few days ago and she was a ex iPhone user. Now she likes the look of the stock ROM, but misses emojis. Is there a apk or something I can flash or install that will bake it into the stock messaging app? I know I'll have to root it. But what do you guys recommend?

What if I updated?

Alright so the point of this thread is to help people with their LG Optimus G for Rogers Wireless in Canada, also known simply as E971
Here are the official specs:

from LG:
http://www.lg.com/ca_en/cell-phones/lg-LGE971-optimus-g
from Rogers:
http://www.rogers.com/web/link/wire...normal&productId_Detailed=OPTIMUSGBLK&N=52+11

The main difference from this phone and the E973 version is the 700/2600mhz LTE frequency for Rogers as opposed to 700/1700 for Bell/Telus/Sasktel
The 2600MHz LTE spectrum (2x20MHz band) is the frequency used for LTE that has the most bandwidth available making it the fastest LTE band. Typical download speeds experienced will range from 12 Mbps up to 40Mbps. -from the Roger's site

This means that LTE will not work with other LTE such as BELL or TELUS unless they roll out a 700/2600mhz network, Fido piggy backs on Rogers and *should* work

Here are some of the more important threads to have your phone rooted and have a unlocked bootloader, up to know i do not know of any custom roms available for the E971
Give these guys your thanks and donate if you can
You'll have to root first then unlock the bootloader

Root:
Bin4ry's Root MANY ANDROID
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1886460

unlocked bootloader:
Team Codefire's Project FreeGee
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2007961

If you want to keep your root and unlocked Bootloader do not update to the latest OTA (E97110E_00), you will lose root permanatly and Bin4ry's methode will not work anymore the previous version is linked at the 2nd post (E97110D_00)
more info here:
http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=2053880

to disable the OTA app:
"Disable" via Settings > Apps > All > Software Update > Tap Disable.
or freeze with Titanium Backup "Software Update 3.1.0"

Removing carrierware (only do if you have v0.5+ of FreeGee and Root or else you'll get a the security error bootloop)
You'll also receive the Security error if you tinker with the Google Apps that come with this phone (ex, google movies, google books, etc)
remove or delete the .apk , freezing with Titanium works as well

Locations
/vendor/apps-rgs/
/system/vendor/apps-rgs/
/data/app-system

Other Stuff
E971 wont work with Bell LTE

Got a question.
I know removing carrierware without unlock bootloader will cause the security error.
How about freezing carrierware with Titanium without unlock bootloader ? Does it cause the security error as well?
Thanks.

Download cm10.1 rom >> unzip the ROM >> go to META-INF folder >> com>google>android> updater-script

open updater-script with notepad++ and delete following lines from it
Code:
assert(getprop("ro.product.device") == "geebus" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "geebus" ||
       getprop("ro.product.device") == "geebusc" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "geebusc" ||

       getprop("ro.product.device") == "geeb_ca" || getprop("ro.build.product") == "geeb_ca");

than save that file repack zip and put into your sd card and flash it it should work

or else copy paste updater-script from zip i attached here and replace it with cm-10.1's updater-script META-INF >com>google>android folder

I hope u find your answer

Having issues with the latest stable pacman rom ( their ****ty site as well but thats another story): ever since installing it, and later a new battery, my phone is not holding more than 3.5hours of charge and takes forever to charge. Anyone else have those issues? Anyone know any fixes?

Could be your battery is low quality or needs a break in period. But again I would assert that everyone should try the candy5 rom. I thought my battery was toast too but I just got over 3 days off a charge. Before candy5 I could not even get 8 hrs in standby.

In candy5 I am able to disable the cell radio, so that definitely helps. I dont have a sim card. I can enable wifi and my e971 lasts longer than a priaprism.

This makes me even MORE glad I bought an E970 instead of the E971. The Rogers phone doesn't even support both THEIR OWN FREQUENCIES, because the AWS band would mean the phone could easily be used on Telus or Bell. So the E971 doesn't actually get better LTE coverage than Galaxy S2s or iPhone5s by offering both bands Rogers supports.

The E971 supports 2600 and 700, 700 being the main frequency for AT&T in the US which is shared with the E970 but not supported by ANY carrier in Canada until after the 700mhz spectrum auction which isn't for another YEAR. But with an E970 on Rogers I still get the AWS band , and it is ALSO usable on Bell or Telus!

So overall, the AT&T phone gives just as good coverage out of the box, and better options for changing carriers and roaming than either regular Canadian model.

    **** you, Rogers.
