I own the HD+ x32 gb. with CM 10.2 (jB 4.3) custom Rom. I would not enjoy the tablet as much with the stock ROM. CM ROM adds multiplel users too. The screen, speakers, MicroSD (can be swapped with SDcard). battery life and faster processor are plus features. Grab the Nook(s) if you don't care about GPS and camera. Gamers might prefer the Nooks. The HD+ is well worth the price difference over the HD, if only for the 16 gb memory. I find the 7" size is a plus if you want to make phone calls, hold in one hand for reading and for using the keyboard.
BUT, if I had one my Tab 2 would be the choice. The GPS, cameras, and light sensitive screen are important features. I don't use the IR. eReader, Internet, GPS, VOIP calling, Email, and Texting are my main uses. I use the stock rom but there are many custom roms too.
For a couple of days, you might add the Tab 3 to the list and not get a Tab 2. Staples had a $75 off coupon on Samsung tabs at /staples.com/coupons that was good until 09/28 and I think you have to go into a store. They pulled the coupon but you can get it https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...%20Staples.pdf
. That would bring the 7" down to $125 plus local tax.
For my use I don't see that much difference for the Tab 3 vs Tab 2. For me the biggest advantage would be the more standard Micro charger vs the special one in the Tab 2. The processor is a little quicker too.
Why do I own 2 different Tablets?...that's another story!
