Default [Q] S-OFF on hboot 0.80

Hello (:

I've been asked by my dad to root his HTC Desire, to remove bloat and make it faster and last longer, etc etc.

But i've run into some problems. (Let me just say i'm not a complete noob at rooting, i've rooted Desire HD, EVO 3D and a Prime tablet before, and flashed roms etc etc)

I've successfully downgraded it from Android 2.2 with HBOOT 1.02 (i think thats the one) to Android 2.1 with HBOOT 0.80. And i've succesfully rooted it.

Now i want to S-OFF the device, but Revolutionary doesn't support the HBOOT 0.80, it requires 0.93 or 1.02.

I've also read about the AlphaRev S-OFF method, but thats super old and it even says to use Revolutionary.

My end plan is to install LeeDroid rom (My dad wants to keep HTC Sense, but want it fast, and LeeDroid was the best rom i could find for this, or is there something better?).
In LeeDroid it also says it needs to create a ext-3 partition with ROM Manager, but i can't even find ROM Manager on the market, is that because of the fact that i'm currently running android 2.1, or?

I hope some good people out here can help me with my problems (:

First off: Don't use "bump" posts after just 10 hours. This is not "Instant Help".

Alpharev may be old, but works fine.

Don't even think about using ROM Manager, it will break your phone. Create the ext partition with gparted.

I don't know about Sense Roms, but i think you can use just any. Depends on which version you prefer. Best for performance and battery life should be the lower ones, like LeeDroid.

Revolutionary would be the easiest option. A few clicks and your phone is rooted, S-off and has clockworkmod recovery.
