I believe I'm on MDK still -- whatever the pre-release kernel was that everyone used right when the phone came out to root stuff (Loki seems to ring a bell).
I haven't used any custom ROMs, but if my current configuration allows me to then I would definitely like to retain that ability. I know I tried an AOSP ROM once and it was horrible, so I switched back to stock and I haven't gone back since.
Perhaps I should spend a weekend tinkering around...
