static navigation REALLY turned off + other sirf parameters set
Intro: After my M800 has tossed some inner parts during an accident, I had to reactivate my good old XDA Orbit yesterday. The Problem of this was the SN Static Navigation of the GPS in the past days, and I set the XDA to sleep in the drawer for this....
Now, after years, I know more about Windows Phone and its predecessors, so it is easy to hack the device now!
On HTC with WM6.x the hardware GPS COM port is locked to trusted applications, like the GPS Intermediate Driver that provides COM4:
This lock prevents SiRFtech, AplSiRF, etc. from setting SN mode and other chipset prefs. The setting for this in the registry
To enable access to all features of the SiRF (and QC....) chipset, just set
then after reboot
access the GPS hardware directly under COM3: (or the device specific port), and 57600 baud (or the device specific aud rate) and enjoy the full features of chipset settings. The Orbit GPS actually stores all settings in its own nonvolatile memory and they survive even a system hard reset or a power loss. So be careful !!!
It's that simple. And there are thousands of webpages telling that SN is impossible to turn off on HTC devices...
