Wondering of any one else is having a minor bug, I'm using my phone to send this but my WiFi signal shows no bars, usually fluctuates between 2 and long periods with none any thoughts

Sent from my HTC Desire S using XDA
don't worry this is a cosmetic only bug, will say connected to null rather than the actual Sid name, from memory only usually happens following a reboot (although may be wrong on that) but it doesn't bother functionality

So ignore it

Thanks, I read something about it on here but wasn't really sure, disconnecting then reconnecting seems to fix it

I guess you are facing with this problem. Isn't it?
It seems that it is something happening very rarely. It tends to happen, let's say: never.

*********

enigmaamit: after nearly three months of tests, I've seen that these settings are not so better than the stock ones. I used the phone both with stock characteristics and your settings during this period, but I think stock is best. Actually I noticed even a strange behaviour, like slow downs but no one benefit for the problem I've reported.

Nonetheless, I thought to do another test: uninstall PDroid and the related patch. Furthermore I've put +25 on UC daemon, as suggested many posts ago.
Let's see what happens now. At the moment, my feeling is that it goes better than ever.

wifi tething

how to install HTC kernel or another kernel, which will work, "wifi tether" My attempts were not successful was forced to return Endymion kernel.
PS I would like to find a combination of the kernel with support for callrecord + wifi-tether + tun (vpn).

Great man. :)

Glad you finally got the settings down to your preference. Like i said before, there are no ideal settings... each one is comfortable with different ones. I simply suggested settings that I personally used, and am still using. Also, not all devices are born the same. Some devices handle a particular set of settings much better than others. For example, for some of us, even prolonged severe overclocking or undervolting does not produce system instability, while for others, even milder settings result in system freezes, random reboots, etc. Take for example Olyloh's phone... the man's a maniac with undervolting (or was, at least) and has had stable setup even on -100 to -125 mV if i remember correctly (oly, please correct me if i am wrong); I ran -100 UV for a month without any adverse event, before i realized that it didn't really make any significant difference in battery life, thereby switching back to 0.... but numerous other users actually had to set their UV to 0 or +25 to keep their phones from crashing. The same goes with overclocking... Even on the same assembly line, devices are created unique, and have different margins of tolerance.

I am happy that you've finally found the settings that work best for your device. Congratulations! :D

what the Fix HTC routes with Froyo ROMs? patch ?

It does what it says! :) I guess it's a sort of patch. You may find ton of information about that, even in the OpenVPN Setting app mailing list! :)
Read here, for instance. :)

Great! And this is mostly because of you. :)
I would have never tried any OC/UV setting without your suggestion. Anyway, I am still wandering if the PDroid patch was the real culprit of all the problems discussed here. Anyway, I will keep on testing +25.

Thanks mate.

You're most welcome, my friend.

As for the Pdroid issue... we know that it's been causing problems on Endymion. Lowveld said so himself. But I don't know if we can attribute all problems to that one patch. Best way to find out would be to test a ROM setup without the PDroid patch and try to reproduce the same issues on that setup. If they disappear, with the only variable being the exclusion of the PDroid patch, you've found your culprit. If not, the rabbit hole might go deeper than we suspect. :D

Yes, you are right actually. I was completely aware of this, but I didn't find any significant issue (apart the one we are discussing) using it since the PDroid patch applying.
Anyway, I've seen that PDroid is not so indispensable for me, and most of the times, I select all "V" ON for the applications.

it has not helped me(Fix HTC routes in openvpn setting), and I deleted the openvpn after. p.s. sorry my english (

No problem mate. Anyway, I think you should open a new thread for that problem, or look for one already opened (I bet there is at least one). I also had problems with OpenVPN app, and for that reason I suggested you to try Fix HTC routes.

    Endymion V3.5 ROM

This is based on the official 1.05.401.4 WWE RUU for Runnymede (final version - release-keys) with several tweaks and optimizations, plus a modified UNITY kernel (credits for great base go to m-deejay). Actually, this kernel is based on the Hyperion kernel, with different settings. The V2.2 Endymion kernel includes:

    • - Working front facing camera
    • - Working stereo video recording
    • - No default undervolting
    • - deadline IO Scheduler as default
    • - CFQ, VR, SIO and BFQ IO Schedulers as optional
    • - CFS Scheduler
    • - Tiny RCU and other optimizations
    • - GPU tweaks

V3.5 builds upon V3.4, with some updates and consolidating the proven stability of previous versions. It's been over 3 months since last update, and Endymion V3.4 is still one of the most used ROMs for the Desire S. V3.5 includes Endymion Control Centre, slightly modified from V3.4. In V3.5 I removed the Pdroid and Droidwall tabs, leavin to the user the choice of installing the standalone apps or not. It makes a cleaner interface.

Endymion Control Center was built by me from the ground up. The application is programed on top of the HTC opensense SDK, seamlessly integrating with other sense elements on the rom. The Control Center is installed by default, and it detects if the optional addons package was installed. If it was, the Theme Manager part will also work, if not, all other functionalities are still available to the user.

    Control Center Functionalities:

    Theme manager:
    • - Theme: Stock, IceHD, HoneHD or GoldRush
    • - Fonts: Stock, Roboto, Segeo, Ubuntu
    • - Bootanimations: Stock, Speedo, Quietly Rooted, Pyral, Liquid Honeycomb, Htc Bkack, Flying Vs
    All RCTeam tweaks
    New Endy tweaks
    • - Change animations speed on the fly (with a slider)
    • - CPU Control: Control daemon controller, max an min frequencies for wake and sleep states, cpufreq governor, IO Scheduler, you name it. Taken from Reaper.
    • - AGPS Patcher: Apply/revert gps patches on the fly, taken from reaper. Credits to author on this thread: http://xdaforums.com/showthread.php?t=1442032
    • - Turn on/off GPU rendering (just for kicks, but leave it on, seriously)
    • - Change scrolling smoothness (tradeoff with speed)
    • - Change V6 Supercharger profiles on the fly (default, aggressive and insane)
    • - Change Dalvik VM Heap size (32, 48 or 64Mb)
    • - Bass boost: choose to give a bass boost on beats
    • - Disable Rosie Spinning: turn on/off the fast "caroussel" spinning of Rosie

Regarding themes, changes are valid after reboot, and do not require any sort of flashing. You can still apply any UOT mods you want, and revert back to any included themes with the Theme manager. For the IceHD and HoneyHD themes, I suggest also choosing the matching skins, also included.

Since V3.1 the addons are installed to the sdcard, so there's minimal overhead to your data and system partitions.

Note that I did not create the bootanimations, neither the IceHD and HoneyHD themes! Credits go to the original authors: he_shteone64 for the themes, and the bootanimations (and lots more) you can find here.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who donated, no matter how much. It's very appreciated! I don't know where some came from, so this goes to Endy and Reaper threads (I think Hyperion is mostly stale).

Just checked in after a long time to see if it was finally time to give up reaper and move to Endymion... but it seems all development is now halted, and our genius dev lowveld has left to do some other work (maybe ICS). And then suddenly i see this Sense 4 port!! I hope Endymion gets upgraded to ICS and Sense 4... would never look back if that happened!!!

Great going, DS community. There's a cookie for me everytime i check in here!

Yes lowveld, any plans to port this to ICS and Sense 4? Will be fantastic. Thanks again for your hardwork.

i don't think lowveld will release a chopped rom without full functionality (in my opinion). and without a (leaked) 3.0 kernel u will never get a full-working ics rom.
(thats the reason why all ics roms for the desire s haven't full functionality)

    but maybe in future^^

    Hey all,

I think I said it before, but if not, I'll say it now. Endy is not going to be "upgraded" or whatever you call it to ICS. In my opinion it has reached a level of stability and usability that earns it the right to stay as is, GB2.3.5 and Sense 3.5, for anyone who wants to use it.

As for ICS, if I ever release a ICR rom, it will be a different one from this. I played around with the idea of releasing a One V based one, but in the end I decided to let it go and just feed the wifi fix to the community.

The reason is although I like trying out new stuff, I'm highly reluctant to release a not-fully-functional rom. And this will only happen when we get either a DS stock kernel leak, or (even better) the 3.0 htc kernel source.

So for now don't really expect a new rom from me (unless I make a worthy breakthrough). I'll keep testing the ICS builds and try to contribute to the community, but that's it for now.

    Cheers

    Taraaaannnnnn! V3.5

    Ok Guys,

Not groundbreaking stuff. Mostly just cleaned up Control Centre, added the swipe to remove notifications feature, updated all themes to also support it, and updated some apps.

Oh, and new kernel with SIO Io Scheduler plus some others (see, I listen).

Facebook for HTC patch didn't make the cut, as it broke FriendStream.

    Cheers
