reasons to root

yay can't wait to root now all I really want is WiFi tether but I'm sure I will find other stuff I want that can only be done with root/sudo access

How about full adblock in browser and apps, led flashlight, get rid of bloatware (trim android/sense), wake screen with middle button, apps2sd, make the "+" gui button actually do something usefull...

I cannot wait:)

Following mr. PaulOBrien on Twitter, and he is reporting bad blocks when writing to MTD. I hope this don't mean the rooting will be delayed...

maybe we'll get HD video recording now?
I'll have to try App2sd now, never got around to it on my Hero.

I'd wait for rooting my desire because no way to restore it to original state is known. HTC may provide substitution of the terminated cause of the display issue...what if it's rooted? ;-)

i'm a newbie so please dont shoot me when i ask this question:

il;ve already flashed mine using the gold card, does this mean that we should be able to do it all withthe same methods as when i used to flash my tytn II - ie do the spl and then its just an RUU? or will we still need a gold card?

a few quick ones as new to this linux ....

is rooting the equivalent of getting hard spl??

will this mean we can install apps to memory card soon (my biggest want)

will it be reversable with out a trace for warrenty returns etc?

What do I need to backup prior to rooting? What will I be losing after root? Can I get all the apps already downloaded back on my phone with restoring? or will that mess up my phone due to having a different ROM? Thanks!

And thank you Paul :D

This is truly great news :)

All i want is to be able to purchase apps from the market LOL

- With that in mind aps2sd might be a welcomed application for me.
