"I would recommend against buying a s10 unless you have specific reasons to get one vs a different tab."
I agree with you!!

Me too.

By the way, is it a room for the s7 oder s10 ? The title is terrible i think.

If yes, please ad more infos :)

Not the place for it. Please post your question the "General" section. Not in a thread about a Streak-10

Help required - download failed

Hi TheManii,

First of all thanks for bringing this rom for the DS10Pro owners. :)

I followed your guide and tried to take the backup. Although the process didn't failed for me but it was acting wierd for the 13th file. Its expected size should be around 900MB but the process of recieving data was not stopping until I ran out of disk space. The output file p13.img was above 3.5GB. Then I changed the script and included only the script for uploading bootloader and the donwload of 14th file which was successfull and I got 512 KB.

Code:
nvflash --bl bootloader.bin --go --wait
nvflash -r --read 14 p14.img

Then the Install step.

I was trying to run the install script but I have tried multiple times and the output is the same. i.e.

Code:
G:\Android\Dell\ChimeraDroid r2>nvflash --bl bootloader.bin --go --wait
Nvflash started
rcm version 0X20001
System Information:
   chip name: t20
   chip id: 0x20 major: 1 minor: 4
   chip sku: 0x8
   chip uid: 0x038062054260e417
   macrovision: disabled
   hdcp: enabled
   sbk burned: false
   dk burned: false
   boot device: emmc
   operating mode: 3
   device config strap: 0
   device config fuse: 0
   sdram config strap: 0

downloading bootloader -- load address: 0x108000 entry point: 0x108000
sending file: bootloader.bin
/ 5242880/5242880 bytes sent
bootloader.bin sent successfully
waiting for bootloader to initialize
bootloader downloaded successfully

G:\Android\Dell\ChimeraDroid r2>nvflash -r --download 7 boot.img
Nvflash started
[resume mode]
sending file: boot.img
/ 3137536/3137536 bytes sent
boot.img sent successfully

G:\Android\Dell\ChimeraDroid r2>nvflash -r --download 8 system.img
Nvflash started
[resume mode]
failed executing command 14 NvError 0x30012
command failure: partition download failed

G:\Android\Dell\ChimeraDroid r2>nvflash -r --download 11 custom.img
Nvflash started
[resume mode]
failed executing command 14 NvError 0x30012
command failure: partition download failed

G:\Android\Dell\ChimeraDroid r2>

After this the device automatically reboots to the originial OS i.e. HC 3.2.
I have updated the device via the OTA Update from 3.1 to 3.2.

Any help will be appreciated.

Hi,
This might put some light on the issue.

Here are the sizes of the image file downloaded from the device:

Code:
03/19/2012 09:35 PM 2,097,152 p10.img
03/19/2012 09:37 PM 536,870,912 p11.img
03/19/2012 09:37 PM 16,777,216 p12.img
03/19/2012 10:10 PM 1,242,841,088 p13.img
03/19/2012 10:14 PM 524,288 p14.img
03/19/2012 09:27 PM 3,145,728 p2.img
03/19/2012 09:27 PM 524,288 p3.img
03/19/2012 09:27 PM 5,242,880 p4.img
03/19/2012 09:27 PM 1,048,576 p5.img
03/19/2012 09:27 PM 5,242,880 p6.img
03/19/2012 09:27 PM 8,388,608 p7.img
03/19/2012 09:30 PM 536,870,912 p8.img
03/19/2012 09:35 PM 1,073,741,824 p9.img
              13 File(s) 3,433,316,352 bytes
               0 Dir(s) 3,141,087,232 bytes free

All i can see is that there is a size difference between the boot.img and the downloaded image file. While the other two files custom.img and system.img have exact same size as their downloaded image.

I will prepare a new installer script soon, it's a known issue the current installer script doesnt work, but works fine if you manually type it out one by one

I have finally gotten around to making a patched installer.

I havnt tested it yet, so I will need testers.
It will either work fine or fail and not do anything, I dont expect it to be able to do damage. But as with all custom roms proceed at your own risk.

In a month or so I will be installing 569 and (hopefully) porting CWM 5.5 to it.

ChimeraDroid is now formally discontinued.
(though I havnt updated it in months anyway)

I am now officially supporting the CM9 port with fixes/changes.
(NOTE: I am not the author, but I will provide english support for it)

NOTE: I am no longer supporting ChimeraDroid anymore, I have migrated over to CM9 and will be providing english support for it

    Introduction:
ChimeraDroid is a custom rom for the Streak 10, it is a combination of Streak 10 568 and Streak 7 506-wifi, hence Chimera.

    Features:
    • Bundleware removed
    • Gapps Integration
    • Pre-rooted
    • Optional app pack

    Requirements:

    Instructions:
    1. Download: ChimeraDroid r2.zip
    2. Download: ChimeraDroid r2 Installer.zip
    3. Extract ChimeraDroid r2.zip, EXCEPT do not extract Backup Current ROM - S10.cmd or Install ROM - S10.cmd
    4. Extract ChimeraDroid r2 Installer.zip to the same folder
    5. Put Device into APX mode
      1. Open sd card flap
      2. Press pinhole reset button
      3. Press and hold reset button and power button
      4. First time only: Install usb APX drivers
    6. Run "Load Bootloader -S10.cmd"
    7. OPTIONAL: Run "Backup Current ROM - S10.cmd" [STRONGLY RECOMMENDED]
    8. OPTIONAL: Run "Backup UserData - S10.cmd" [STRONGLY RECOMMENDED]
    9. OPTIONAL: Run "Backup SDCard - S10.cmd" [This will take a whike]
    10. Run "Install ROM - S10.cmd"
    11. After install is complete, reset device again
    12. OPTIONAL: Download: ChimeraDroid Apps r2.zip
    13. OPTIONAL: Sideload apps with adb or any file explorer.

    Upcoming features:
    • 1080p video recording(?)
    • Long term: Languages available on the Streak 7

    Changelog:
    • Apr 15, 2012: Finally added fixed installer
    • Nov 23, 2011:
      • Added: WMV video/codec support
      • Changed: Greater Market compatability, should be nearly on par with the S7 now
      • Added: Gmail app
    • Nov 14, 2011: Initial release

    Notes:
    • Remember to download Superuser off the Android Market!
    • You are strongly recommended to NOT share your backups, as they contain your user data and device unique data
    • Boot.img ramdisk mod credit goes to nathanchan

ICS would add very little if you're already on 3.2, it's mainly to bring phones to parity.
For a tablet, ICS can be considered android 3.3. It adds lots of small things, but overall it's not a huge change. I couldnt recall offhand from the release notes or the presentation anything major for a tab, it's either bringing phones to parity or new hardware specific.

Most apps will run fine, i've yet to see one that doesnt work at all (but most of my apps are at least tablet aware and some are HC native apps), worst case you can play with the scaling button and it'll think you have a giant phone.

At least the price is dropping very quickly, it's original MSRP was ¥2999 or ~$370 where you can get a gtab10 for ~$400 on ebay. Under 300 it's reasonable, but you're saving on the rom support. The gtab and tf101 and xoom and the like have massive communities for rom support. But this depends on where you live, as being in HK means you dont really need to import it might be a reasonable buy.

My rom is pretty simple, and yet I dont expect anyone else to make anything more complex, much less release it on xda/somewhere visible outside china.

I dont currently have any plans to as it's extremely tedious to do so.

There is a script to back up your current rom in the package. You should run that even if you do not wish to install Chimeradroid.
