Airplane mode burns through battery

Does anyone else have a problem with airplane mode? When I turn it on, in the pulldown notification bar it always says "searching for service". It never says "airplane mode", and it burns through my battery faster than if I never use airplane mode. Otherwise I don't have any other problems with battery life, it could go over 24 hours.

I even tried a fresh wipe but it didn't help.. so I am not sure if it is the rom I am using.
My Phone: Sprint Samsung Galaxy S3, ROM: Blazer ROM 1.5 LG2, RADIO: LF9

sounds like a rom issue... airplane mode should mean no searching for service... try a different rom...
